Resident Evil 6 - Discussion Thread

I just got home. I didn't even know it was out. Thanks for the heads up. Downloading it right now. Will let you know by tomorrow, hopefully. :)

Played the demo all 3 campaign the demo has screen tearing issues and ****ing no pause screen

Forgot to provide a heads up on the demo.

I loved it. Yeah, big surprise. Looking at the E3 footage, I was prepared for a half-baked experience, but now I somehow want to play the game. The demo weighs in a meager 840MB and consists a glimpse of all 3 protagonists campaign; Leon, Chris and Jake. Each of these characters have an additional partner to tag along with them; Helena, Piers & Sherry respectively. I started out with Leon' campaign, which takes place in Ivy university campus where it's mainly assisting a man locating his missing daughter, Liz. This level has very little action, but has an amazing atmosphere. The visuals are stunning, least to say. Character detailing and lighting effects were highly detailed. However, the screen-tearing issues prevailed. The inventory system has been re-vamped completely. This is a full 3D circular navigational screen, where you can select your items and weapons on the fly, without having to pause the game and manage them at your leisure. Gameplay hasn't changed much, however, you can now strafe-aim-shoot. Unlike, the static position shooting in RE4.

Leon's campaign seems to have taken the old-school RE approach, with the chilly environments and scare factor. Chris's campaign was more action oriented and mostly surviving the onslaught of the infected. Jake's was more of a "RUN b**ch, RUN!" sort of affair, where you had to keep wading the gigantic Ustanak and finally taking him down at the end. Took me at least an hour to complete all the campaigns, which is pretty impressive, given it's size. The "issues" that I faced was with the aiming system, the camera pans in ridiculously close your character, with his/her body occupying more than half the screen, thus restricting your view. Next, the FOV is really poor for all of them. Now I normally don't throw a fit about FOV in any game, but this was really noticeable. Also, like dinjo mentioned, no pause screen. Well, technically, you can hit the main menu, but it won't pause the game and your character will still be vulnerable to attacks. Looks like the Demon's Souls fever is catching up with the rest of the Jap developers. The game won't pause even if you hit the dashboard button on your console. So that means no cut-scene pausing either. Immersive experience, my ass. I hate this mechanic, didn't like it in Demon's Souls, don't like it here.

But over-all, I'm impressed with the demo. I'm particularly banking on Leon's campaign to provide a true horror experience. NOTE: For those who have a good PC, take my advice and wait for the PC version. Albeit, the console version looks pretty good, I have a feeling the PC version will deliver the ultimate experience. Knowing, MT Framework's past history, this has to be a given. :D

Woah that sure sounds awesome! Definitely waiting for the PC version - have absolutely no hurries. :D

And if this matches up to the RE 3 standards, boy oh boy!

Playable Ada Wong And Agent Hunt Mode Revealed For Resident Evil 6

Popular Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu has let some more details drop regarding an additional playable character and game mode for the upcoming Resident Evil 6.

Series regular Ada Wong will have her own playable story that is unlockable after beating the three main campaigns for Leon, Chris, and Jake. Unlike the three leads, Ada’s campaign will have her fighting solo most of the time, without any partner characters. However, she will run into the three leads from time to time, and a clever online component will come into play here. People who play as the main three characters and encounter Ada may have the opportunity to play online with whoever is controlling her, and vice versa.

Additionally, another new online mode will be enabled for those who complete the main game. Called Agent Hunt, the mode will let players control specific monsters that other players are confronting in the main campaign, and attempt to take out the main characters. Players controlling the human characters will be alerted when another player takes control of a monster, but will not be told which one it is.

So I'm in this game too?

From game physics to action everything is same. Its time they should have improved something.Hope they have a strong story to support this.Otherwise looks damn boring.Or rather i should ask why play RE6 and not RE4 or RE5 again.

Resident Evil 6 has gone on sale a month early at a Polish retailer, reports suggest.

Demo is out and i am trying it.All in all as mentioned by ethan you have total six characters.Every main character is accompanied by a sidekick.:D Well the reason is obvious co-op.The game looks good enough.cant say if it looks better than or equivalent to 360.But it seems far better than other ****ed up ports.
I am not sure but initial impression about the coop is not good. There seems to be some kind of lagging issue in the co-op mode.Again i am not sure about that i have to play some more.Speaking of which if any of you guys wants to join for a coop then it will be great.:)
