Came across a thread where a member mentioned that mtnl has some 6hour disconnection everyday...don't know what the member meant?
I had mentioned it here once.

It is not a 6 hour disconnection. The connection resets every 6 hours. So, if you check the session logs the maximum time for any single session will be 6hours.
That post is old and I had the "Night Unlimited" plan so had to check the session times.
If you have an unlimited plan then you need not worry about the session reset. I am not even sure if it happens now. The only side-effect of this session reset is that you might be assigned a new ip-address, which is helpful if you are downloading from rapidshare or similar sites. Torrents, download managers continue as if nothing happened.
MTNL disconnection can happen under one of the following circumstances
1. When a call is received and we pick the phones
2. When we pick the phone receiver.
This can be an issue if there are multiple phone lines and instruments all over the house. MTNL reccomends that the first connection be given to the ADSL modem and the line split after that be used for the rest of the connections. This might reduce interference due to call receiving/dialing.
In most of the houses the modem does not receive the first line which is the case with me too, not much disconnections here though.
If the disconnections are causing too much problem, I'd suggest geting a wireless modem and connecting it to the first line before splitting.
