The last three links in the OP are probably E02's. It's a bit of a chance there since the P21's are supposed to be the new version which is not E02. Pogoplug tends to ship out these labeled as P21 but they are actually E02. You only find this out after you get it(like I did with mine). If you can't get arch on it, then just use it as stock pogoplug which makes it your own personal dropbox.

I don't know if the V4's have the same issue with versions.

No wifi on any of these.

You can access transmission/rtorrent on the plug via a browser and it will keep going even when your PC is off. Use a USB HDD rather than pendrive since power failures corrupt the pendrive easily and you have to reinstall arch whereas with the USB HDD you are usually just an fsck away from getting going again.

If you are new to linux and not willing to experiment a bit, then avoid.
V4 is to be avoided and its best to get debian installed than archlinux on it

Guys, one way to order from Newegg.. using Paypal...

Get a US address + US landline number (Mandatory)

Order and while in payment option - choose Paypal and add the address there (any address) - In Paypal pay as with Indian Credit Card - However before confirming do check the contact number and it should be one US number as NewEgg checks only the telephone number in Paypal as US authentication.

Easy as.. but need US address from where you can get shipped.. I use NZ Govt Postal service here hence it's easy for me.. Just pay 15$ for 1KG of stuff from US to NZ ^_^

I got my 4Tb ($129.99), and another car part ($8.59) from Amazon today which was bought on 1st December and shipped on 2nd December.

Amazon charged $23.60 as Import fees deposit. I checked the document with Aramex delivery boy (sheet where we sign) that custom duty of Rs.741.36 was charged. I clicked a pic of that sheet.

Should I contact Amazon now or should I wait for auto refund of excess duty?

Write to Amazon with the details.

Was the amount in the delivery sheet for both items or just the hard disk?

It is a single shipment, one box for both products. I signed in one column, so this amount is for both the products.

Amazon won't return the amount as of now.

I tried at three different times during the day, first I got representative with Indian name, then 2 foreign ones, all said wait for 60 days.

Last year even I d benefited from price match, but they don't refund customs deposit instantly, they have to investigate.

Yeah, import deposits aren't refunded instantly nowadays, but they do get refunded after 60 days. I normally get 40-50% back depending on the customs.
OTOH, Amazon and DHL mucked up 2 of my shipments. Both were on expedited shipping, with pre-paid import deposit, but the local BlueDart guy said since customs have been charged (that too 200-300 INR more than what Amazon charged me per shipment), I'll have to pay upfront and only then will he hand over the shipment.
After a long and exhausting chat with both Amazon and DHL CSAs (separately of course), did DHL finally agree to deliver it by tomorrow, with the shipper paying for the customs.
Never ever had such issues with Aramex (Free AmazonGlobal Shipping).

Yes, the Amazon executive told the same that I will have to wait for 60 days to get the credit of difference in duty amount.

I raised a question of $129.99 price on 2nd December which was reduced to $119.99 on 4th December.

The executive told me to send the link but since it is not 119 anymore, there is no link to prove it.

BUT, I had bought another 4TB HDD @119.99 on 4th December, so I sent him the order number and screenshot, and he agreed to refund 10$. :D

"Since the price of the item has changed within seven days of the delivery of the order, I've issued a refund for the price difference in the amount of $10.00. You should see the refund in the next 2-3 business days."
