The Conjuring - 9/10

Absolutely fantastic! I don’t recall the last time I enjoyed a genuinely scary horror title in the theater. The auditorium barely had 15-20 people in all and there was just one girl. And she was shit scared! We could tell when she was screaming during the spooky sequences. And no part of the title felt overdone with blood/gore or being stretched/dragged - everything felt just right. I am a sucker at watching horror titles - I end up covering my eyes all the time when a spooky sequence is about to happen. Looks like I wasn’t the only one who was scared yesterday - all my friends had similar reactions! So looks like it is a decent horror title.

Credits to the sound fx! Had it not been for the haunting background score and the theater’s equipment, perhaps we wouldn’t have enjoyed as much.

This movie is a far cry from the recent spate of torture-themed horror movies being churned out in last few years. This was good old fashioned horror without gruesome sequences or violence. It was all about the atmosphere. Hate to admit it, but I was shit-scared.

Umm.. Any spoilers in the above two posts .. I want to read them but haven't watched the movie yet.

You've got to be kidding me! :p

There are no spoilers in the above posts. Besides, like he posted above, there's no guarantee that you wouldn't be any less scared if you read through the plot.

Madras cafe.

5/10

Everyone was saying this is an awesome movie and what not. So I went to the hall excited and decided to watch this.

Was underwhelmed to say the least. Could extremely easily predict all the main twists in the story.

Plus, the acting isn't that good. No 'action' scenes. The supposed main actress didn't speak one word of Hindi all movie. K Kaif lookalike.

Plus all sorts of mistakes whole movie. Chinese and Sri Lankans all speaking good hindi. AASHIQUI 2 posters. Using wireless phones and LCDs in the 80s. Sone of the mistakes were to laugh at.

Only very good thing about the movie was NO SONGS. Breath of fresh air.

I just went to see the movie as an John Abraham fan, and therefore it was average to okay.

I'm not entirely convinced with Kinman playing Robocop. He acts decently, but has a weak physical structure. My previous memories of Robocop has always been a much broader version and this seems to be...well...slim. But that's not to say the movie could suffer, in fact it looks quite good, visually. Let's hope they deliver a proper reboot.

Yea, i was bothered along the same lines. But i could find two justifications for not reincarnating the original Robocop suit:
1) You boot a franchise with least amount of deadwood/legacy attached. Else the comparison will be imminent throughout.
2) Maybe they wanted to make this Robocop to be more swift. Hence the streamlining.

I like the idea that they got the family involved in the movie. And speed chases are there. Seems they have thrown nostalgia pieces as well to keep the movie well binded, and exude the emotions from the loyal audiences. I expect them to ride that wave and be adding new elements and doing something to justify revisiting this project. It is a legendary series.

You were lucky to have an almost empty theater, I went in for a house full show and mind you in the second week of the movie's run, it was the WORST theater experience I have ever had. Didn't know the girl behind me was whether scared s***less or was having continuous orgasm during the entire movie, crying out "Oh God" and "Oh s***" throughout. Not to mention the senseless and narrow-minded comments all along. ESquare University Road Pune Avoid it at all cost.

But as you said the movie was awesome. Saw a horror flick after about 4 years and didn't regret it.
8.5/10

Percy jackson and the sea monsters - 6/10

Okish movie really. Bit directed to the kids this one i felt but similar to the first one. Its a good one time watch.

Yeah this has happened to us on quite a few occasions before and the Gujju crowd (no offense!) doesn't have the basic sense to maintain silence when the movie has begun. On one occasion, I lost my control and asked a guy to STFU or move out of the auditorium if he wants to continue speaking over the phone - the crowd around supported me and he cut the call instantly. This man was continuously speaking over the phone and we were unable to hear anything properly. And this was during a Hollywood movie, I do not recall which one (X-Men First Class IIRC).

As such, the crowd for Hollywood movies here is pretty less because they choose to watch the Hindi dubbed version instead (good for them!). They are better off with their crowd who perhaps wouldn’t mind such instances.
