    I figured out the issue. Actually no USB Data card will work fine with MacBook Air mid-2012 and later and the issue is not the operating system, but the USB 3.0 port. These newer MacBooks have unusual USB 3.0 port (according to Apple Store guy) I don't know what he meant, and he couldn't explain...

    Yes, the RAM is soldered on the mainboard for the Retina Display MacBook Pro. MacBook Pro with Retina is designed with precise engineering, even iFixit faced issues while tearing it. The repairability score is too low, so in that case it is difficult to upgrade the HDD too.
