Is there anyway to do same?
For image formats I don't have issues, my gallery app does this.

Looking for solution for other file formats/types.
Use mixplorer, it's an incredibly powerful piece of software. Use the official xda thread https://xdaforums.com/t/app-2-2-mixplorer-v6-x-released-fully-featured-file-manager.1523691/ . Attached screen rec for how it works with videos https://imgur.io/a/7diROpl . You'll need to add the mixplorer widget to the home screen.

Surprised not to see the mention of the wildly popular app Solid Explorer here.

This app doesn't discriminate between file types. Just long press, tap on the three vertical dots at the extreme right just above your navigation buttons and select 'Create Shortcut'.

Works for everything including folders/directories.

P.S. No widget required. It adds shortcuts exactly like browsers add PWA to home screen.
