RIP Budget Gaming.... Many people were thinking Nvidia 3050 & AMD 6500XT will turn out to be life saver for budget gamers but all hopes gone waste. AMD 6500XT became the worse launch as they removed Hardware Encoding from it and after AMD nightmare launch,Hopes were only left for RTX 3050 but with that Pricing. All Budget gamers can do or say REST IN PEACE

By this time it's very clear and people should understand that companies are trying to redefine the word "budget". They wanna set a new standard for low end card prices.
Gone are the days when you could make a gaming pc within 50K budget. So stop holding out for that.
Even MSRP (which is not reflective of actual price) reflects hiked prices than their predecessors. If you have 50-60K budget and want to game, just buy a console.

Guys its time to face the reality. The era of proper budget gaming gpu is over. By this I mean gpu between 10-15k like we used to have 1050Ti, 1650 Super, RX 470, 570, etc. This entry level gpu market will now permanently shift to above 20k even after the mining craze is over and things go back to normal. 3050 8gb is going to be de facto budget gpu for next 2 years and its never going to go under 20k. Time to face the reality and allocate funds for graphics card accordingly.

A lot depends on how Intel prices their upcoming lineup. If they decide to undercut Nvidia and AMD, things will definitely get back to normal. AMD used to be the budget buyers darling but with RDNA 2 and Zen 3,they made it clear that they would go hand in hand with Nvidia.

No way. Intel will follow the market trend. They will also want to maximise the profits. Budget gpu under 20k is permanently dead. Just accept it.

It's simply inflation.
What 15k bought you then, can't do now .
Why aren't we comparing it with the price of Gold or something much more releative petrol/diesel.
It's happening all around, something's we see , something's we refuse to see

It's not just inflation, 2019, 1650 super was 14k, inflation would only make 3050 go to 16k. But 3050 has been priced as what 1060 was priced at. The pricing has shifted up one tier because company can see that consumers can absorb and accept the price. Yes shipping costs and costs of materials has increased also. But even after this goes back to normal, the higher pricing is here to stay permanently. A major portion of gamers in India will simply be priced out.

Dude silicon shortage is everywhere. You have to account for the factors and adjust. I'm not mentioning it per say, but it exists and we know it. Just that we forgot to account for it.
Peace

Bro it's shit experience as for now. It's going to bring an epic change. Just like graphene. But it's far from practical today if you do price/performance graph.
It's a wait and watch game.
For now.

Wait, they are actually trying to make semiconductors using Germanium?
I thought silicon hit that sweet spot of being neither too big or nor small.
Edit: seems like the first decade of transistors used Germanium.

There's also the fact that silicon is one of the most abundant elements on earth.

Not exactly. In electronics, component prices keep coming down. Budget gpus get better as higher resolution monitors get cheaper.

Budget gaming moved from 480l to 720p to 1080p as enthusiasts move to 2k, QHD and 4K.

What's happening since pandemic is crazy. Budget gaming moved from 480l to 720p to 1080p as enthusiasts move to 2k, QHD and 4K.

In the sentence above, you already have the answer for the cause.
Hint: it starts with a P and ends with a "andenic"
Or are you saying the pandemic is over?

What's with the MRP of Rs. 65,000 which translates to $900. Where did IT Depot find a 3050 for that price?

I disagree with some of the posters above assuming this is the new normal. It cannot be the case as the people who buy a GPU are not 30+ old folks with full time jobs and 40k to 60k of disposable income for a GPU. The focus will shift to laptops or this will create a secondary market of imported GPU that evade customs. Unless the GPU market is dominated by miners, these prices won't hold up. What we really need is a Chinese entrant like Fenghua in this segment. Despite all the criticism of Chinese electronics, if it wasn't for the likes of Xiaomi and OnePlus, we would be stuck with resistive touchscreen phones and pay for the design of a phone rather than its functions. I really hope the Chinese make GPUs a mass market product and bring down the price. Only then Nvidia and AMD will come to their senses and start talking about VFM. The longer this duopoly goes along with the easy money of crypto this whole situation will continue to exist.
