I used logitech Z120 for option 1 and jbl flip 1 for option 2. Both were bought long time ago for other use.
The mi box is certified and has both, 3.5mm audio jack and full size usb. I prefer wired audio so there's no lag/connection issues and one less power socket/charger is needed for the speaker.
Mi box is old, does what it supposed to do and should now be available at a reasonable price used.
