Less than 10K Moto E 2nd Gen LTE Vs Redmi 2 Prime

Hey guys i need some personal user experiences on this matter.
I was looking to buy the Redmi 2 Prime aka 2GB RAM variant mainly because of the VFM specs on paper like 2GB RAM, good display, 720p res, affordable price though i prefer stock android.
But thanks to @Sobirvs (I think?) who told me about the Moto E 2nd Gen Dual SIM variant i'm now even more confused than ever! >.< I actually wanted the Moto E but thought that it didn't come with a dualsim variant. Google result always threw out the single sim model page on GSM nor did i bother to confirm about the existence of the dualsim, that was the only reason why i tried to go for the Redmi 2. I'm not a fan of MIUI/Xiaomi.
What i need (priority order):
1. First and foremost a dual-sim
2. Battery life
3. RAM memory
4. Graphics
5. Camera quality be damned though it would be good to have. Duh!
6. Accessories and their availability.
Now i'm not someone who simply judge a phone based on the marketed specs alone. Level of marketing gimmicks is too high when it comes to tech products. Real world performance/usage tend to be different. I've also read tons of reviews of both the phones but they didn't give me the answer which i was looking for.
Anyway, the Moto E with 2390mah seem to have a longer battery life than the Redmi 2 Prime.
My next concern is about the memory. We all know that we dont get the exact numbers with our phones. 1GB RAM phones usually come with only 800-900MB RAM out of which barely 40-60% is free for the user. The first thing which i do when i hold a smartphone is check the actual memory available for use. Whats the actual RAM available for use on the Moto E and Redmi 2 Prime? How does the 1GB RAM handle the Moto E? How much would running multiple apps affect the performance on both the phones?
Next graphics, i mostly play old ROMs using emulators. But i also want to try out Asphalt 7/8 (i've always wanted to) and similar games though i wont play them much.
I like good photography but can do with decent quality camera. Old Moto E which my sister have is also good enough for me.
GOOD QUALITY accessories are also important. I dont want flimsy things.
I didn't mention the after-sales services because both Moto and Xiaomi seem to have similar below-average service quality (based on my research online).

Do not suggest any other phone. This will be my temporary phone (reason for looking a used Redmi 2 Prime in the WTB section) till i can get the Moto X Play Dual. Thank gawd i didn't buy the S4/1+1. I'm a sucker for Krait!

Redmi is big + gimmicky + raw specs which doesn't deliver good user experience except for came which isn't really bad in moto e though, just not good as redmi. Except that, go with moto e.

Contrary to others I feel Redmi 2 will be a better option

> much better camera.
> very good screen
> single but loud speaker
> if you don't like mi ui you can swap it out for unofficial cm12.1 rom, although the process itself is a bit twisted.
> unified active development unlike the E which comes in a few different flavours.

Your requirement is pointing you towards Moto E. Both are good phones -

MOTO E is a better daily runner
Redmi has better screen and camera

Moto E has a slightly higher battery, with pure android it should give slightly longer battery performance

Moto E is more rugged, gorrilla glass, feels solid at hand
Redmi - slim, slippery phone

I used Motorola Defy, Moto G1, Moto G2(wife), Moto G3(current phone) and gifted Moto E1 to my sister in law. Motorola is all out daily hassle free performance with ruggedness. Pure android, timely updates make current Motorola is the best normal man's smart phone.

i havent used either of the phones but moto is not giving marshmellow to moto e which is shocking as its launched this yr only. And it doesnt have flash for camera too if that matters to u.
No Marshmellow?? FFUUUU...
Wtf is this week? A meeting place of my worst nightmares??>.<
You know the one thing which i like about 6.0 is its new "security update" and then suddenly i'm told that the phone which i want to buy won't be getting it!

Okay leaving the rant aside what about the "only" 1GB memory? Enough for running some apps in the background?

I would suggest the Redmi 2 Prime. Yeah its running slightly outdated OS but it has app level permissions at a very granular level.
My sister has a Redmi 1S and keeps complaining its runs a bit hot.
I had a Moto G 1st Gen and there is a Moto E 1st gen in the family. 1GB RAM is not sufficient any more IMHO with the background apps taking up more and more memory.
Currently using a mi4i and quite happy with it. Yes it gets a bit hot when using internet under the sun but I guess most phones does. Though I highly recommend installing Nova launcher prime which is now just Rs.15 in Google play store.
If you are ok with a even lesser known name then I would suggest the Meizu M2 for ~7k. Much better looking the Redmi 2 and slightly better camera according to spec sheet. But the meizu's flyme OS works like iOS and a single button system instead of android's 3 button navigation.

Dont get misguided by Moto Gorilla glass screens. Probably the Motos are the worst when it comes to screen breaking. My wife's Moto E screen broke with a 2 feet fall and my Moto G couldn't handle a 4 feet fall either.

Something about the RAM which i found out only yesterday, I checked out a friend's Intex phone with 2GB RAM. With one FIFA-like game and a few apps running in the background only around 261MB RAM was consumed. And I was like "WHAT? Is this for real?". That was probably the first time i saw an android smartphone eat only a few hundred of memory.
Anyway thanks for all the replies guys. I'll come to a conclusion soon (hopefully).

Motorola - Haven't used the Moto E personally but beware of Motorola India service, its terrible. My friend's Moto E got stuck in a boot loop while updating and the service center is estimating 15 days. My own experience was even worse.
Xiaomi Redmi 2 Prime - I have this as my backup phone, battery life is good but takes a very long time to charge. Around 1 GB RAM is free for use after installing a few non-Google apps. Games played (most take ages to load) - Fallout Shelter (slows down after 6-7 floors), Star Wars: Uprising (smooth after loading), Trials Frontier (smooth) and Hearthstone (smooth).

Service of all companies must be pathetic only may be few exceptions will be there. Even nokia's service was garbage when they were king in the market.
My sister's moto g 2nd gen started giving problem. Its not booting. And service center denied service under warranty claiming its physical damage even though there is absolutely nothing wrong in usage. Xiaomi wont be different anyway. All are part of same society.
Its better to do DIY service on mobiles or get them repaired from decent shops.

android is finicky at best in case of RAM management. It is not as matured and fine tuned as iOS and Windows, I will its in the similar stage of windows 98 - good but not there yet. I hope you understand that, we are talking about an entry level phone, if you are so much into performance- you have to open up wallet and go with mid ranger ,somewhere around 15k range. Moto G3, Samsung J, Mi4,Oneplus are the options.

That's scary, I never faced any problem with motorola device as of now (moto defy, moto g1,moto g2,moto e and moto g3 - all running well)

you are right about the societal aspect, however the system in place it make it different experience for end user. Recently, due to lighting my psu and router fried and need to visit service center. also my nexus 7 (2013) was booting in safe mode and volume rocker is not working. Here is experience report -

Seasonic SMPS - I called up at the number given at overclockers, the person told me to courier me the smps to their Kolkata address for quickest service. I did so, and got the brand new smps within a week.
Verdict -fast service, but I need to spend 400 for courier

Dlink router- visited service center, got a sms update with token number, repaired within 2 hours and got a email/sms update that my item is ready to pick up
Verdict- Flawless !!!

Asus (F1 infoservice) - waited almost an hour in queue due to their slow software (for taking item), they took 7+ days and finally I got the call that my item is repaired and I can come and collect. They service center does not accept card only cash and the lady failed to told how much my bill amount was.
Verdict - I am not buying anything for Asus in the future

moto defy, moto g1,moto g2,moto e and moto g3
And we have a winner! For the biggest Moto fan.
And if what you said about Overclockers/Tirupati is true then that's great. When was that? I dont know Abhishek personally but I used to contact him. I heard mixed reviews about his services. One very reputed distri, a competition to Tirupati, also said that the company was going bankrupt and told me not to buy any of their products as their services were equally bad and RMA would be a pain in the butt. Another well-known member also said his services was in the low as of late. But Mr.Abhishek assured me of smooth hassle-free RMA processes. Hence the question about your RMA.[DOUBLEPOST=1444696589][/DOUBLEPOST]Moto E 2nd Gen 4G now available for 5999. Has 500rs or 10% cashback using Standard Chartered. Which one will be applicable on this phone?

True about poor service generally in India due to poor consumer rights.
Maybe it's luck but going by my own experience - Samsung galaxy S5 screen replaced in one day under warranty with home pick up and drop. Motorola Moto X 2 screen replaced in one month under warranty after repeated complaints.

I have ordered an Redmi Prime for myself, Been reading a lot of Negative reviews about phone heating up and poor battery life on both FK and Amazon. May be half a 100 which were purchased in the last 2 weeks.

can owners comment more on this?

Got it today.. Redmi Prime is bulky when i compare it to my previous android A6000. There is nothing much to boast about.. except for the lag free MIUI.
I regret badly for losing my lenovo phone.
