WiFi device/router for streaming data to iPad

I have iPad 16 GB WiFi version. As you can see that storage is limited, I have my data stored on my PC and shared through my belkin WiFi router.
Presently this is how I am accessing my data from the PC to the iPad using FileExplorer app.

But to have access to the data when out of home, I want a device which can share data stored on a HDD to my iPad.
D-Link dir-505 offers similar functionality, however this requires installation of a specific app on iPad and also the movie format is limited. I'm not sure if I can access the data using FileExplorer with the d-link 505.

So please suggest solutions and other devices which can do the job.

^^ thanks, I'm aware of that. No. 1 that's expensive, No. 2 I'm looking for a router solution where I can attach different hdd or pen drives as needed.
