hi members which dvd writer should i go for heard a lot about benq1640 or is there a newer model or any other make which is better plz tell the approx prices in mumbai

if u want a good performing dvd writer a liteon 16x is available for around 2,900 in lammy road and if u have a contact in mediatech u could probarbly pick it up for 2,700

I bought an LG 4167B recently, seems good. It has DVD RAM as an extra as compared to the BenQ... now all I need is to buy DVD RAM media for it.

The 1640 is a good buy! So is the Sony DRU 810, which is basically the same as the 1640.
Picked up my 4th last week from SMC Delhi at Rs. 3300.

On to topic... Yes Sony DRU 810 is the same drive... infact you can easily cross flash 810's firmware with 1640's... This option is ony viable when there is a non availability of 1640 in your region... AFAIR i havent spotted any 1640's here in Delhi...

Ask any shop @ Lamington Road almost all had them.
Lowest price quoted was 2850 max was 3000.

Sadly no black one was available it all went out of stock.
I wanted a black one for my black cabinet but had no options left
but to get a white one. :(

Every dealer in NP phones the other asking for the 1640 but not a single one of them seem to have it!

Odd! I think Aditya needs to do a bit of better sourcing.:mad:

my uncle bought me a benq dw1640 about 2 days back here in chennai and he paid 3800 for it. someone ripped him off.
