All OS Want to buy e ink reader

Hi i want to buy a e ink reader and I like the the new kindle basic 2014 available at Rs 6000
I dont want to spend Rs 11000 on the paperwhite.

Will I miss out a lot if I dont buy the paperwhite which is nearly twice the price?

I know the paperwhite has better resolution and backlight so I can read in the dark but my rationality is:
1.I am not viewing pics or movies in the tablet so a slightly greater ppi wont affect much
2.I am used to reading books with table lamp on so wont miss reading in the dark with a back light.

What other options are available at this price? How does it compare to Kobbo Glo available at ebay?

+1 for Kobo Glo.

Pros:
Same resolution of PW
Memory card support
Lot of supported formats
Longer battery
Insanely bright

Cons:
Loses contrast in 100% brightness. Well 50% brightness of Glo is more than enough.

I was in the same boat as you. Finally went with Kobo Glo yesterday. Scored it for 4.5k from ebay after discounts.

have used nook touch.
now using kobo glo and happy with it.
i'll never suggest kindle as it doesn't support open formats.

How well does glo score with A4 size PDF's ? I need it only for academic books and white papers. Is it comfortable enough to read?

As far as I know, these low powered e Ink readers do not play nice with PDF's.

If you are working with text only books, it is fine. But if it is a picture heavy book, it won't play nice.

A normal Tab is better for this purpose.

P.S - I have the Nook Simple Touch.

I would have gone for a tab but I am concerned about straining my eyes.Could you post pics of glo rendering academic PDF's ?

@thrift I loaded your PDF and clicked these pic's. Hope these are enough to give you an idea.

Is that the minimum font size that the Nook supports? It seems like the reader would have to scroll very frequently. One advantage is that it supports pdf reflow.
Only if someone can put some pics of Kobo Glo reading a pdf. It would be great

No. I have increased the font size.
I will let you know the font size I am using currently after I return home tonight.
