Virus / Malware on PC - not allowing to access shortcuts

Hi,
I've got a possible virus / malware on my desktop PC. IT has hijacked all shortcuts and whenever i try to open any shortcut, i get the following box. here i tried to open Firefox.

This is how the shortcut images in the start menu look like. The Icon in the taskbar is that of Microsoft Security Essentials!

How do I get rid of it? Please help.
 
Open command prompt with admin rights
change to parent directory e.g. C:, D: in which window is installed
type attrib -r -s -h /s /d *.*
wait till it process, after finishing it will return to parent directory.
Do it for every partition.
close command prompt & restart your computer.
hope this will solve your issue.
