After three months of testing via two beta releases and two release candidates Vector Linux has released version 5.1 of its Slackware-derived operating system. This release is an important milestone as there is now a working dependency package management system inside a Slack-based distro.

* Full development suite with most common libraries, compilers and related tools.
* Gcc updated to version 3.3.4.

* PPP setup wizard for easy connection to the net via your modem. Both pppsetup and wvdial available. Update gkdial is now available also.
* VI style text editors, mutt for email, lynx text web browsing, Midnight Commander file manager, ncftp, telnet, ping, finger and all the basic networking applications and daemons.
* Vim, apache, mysql, Emacs, samba, screen all available on the deluxe CD version.

A great choice for someone looking for an easy to use distro and fast distro, also a good base to learn about the system :thumb:
 
Not too sure whether there will be any for Vector Linux, but you have slamd54, the unofficial port of slackware to x86_64. Vector is basically a pre customised and tweaked version of slackware.
