No thoughts about DDRII mobo should come when going for a new setup :p

CPU - AMD Phenom II x4 945~7k
Motherboard - MSI 785GM E-45~4.1k
RAM - Kingston DDR3 1333 2GB~2.2k(Try getting GSkill or Corsair Value RAM if price difference is less)
SMPS - Corsair VX450~3.6k(excellent choice :D Heartening to see ppl putting more emphasis on PSU. Plonk this baby in and forget about PSU issues for 5 years min. Excellent build quality and after sales service).

P.S: If possible try getting a board with USB 3.0 like the Gigabyte GA-880GM-USB3~5k as u wont be upgrading the rig for a while. This should come in handly ~1.5-2 years down the line.

Delhi based shops,
SMC International - One Stop Shop for all your Hardware Need ! (A registered dealer in TE too and has good +ve feedback. The website doesnt list all the components they have though. Price displayed are VAT inclusive)
http://www.costtocost.in/list/pricelist.pdf (Mixed feedbacks about the store. Just for price reference. Price displayed are VAT exclusive)
One more major store in Delhi popular in TE is Computer Empire(CE)

Thanks DarkAngel :D
I'll take a look at the Gigabyte mobo with USB 3.0. The main thing I'm thinking about is the PSU, I use NewEgg's PSU calculator, it gave me about ~500W (496 to be exact :p ), and VX450 is 450W -_-' I know it can handle it, but I have to research a bit more on this :)

PS: Just for the record, Cost2Cost tried to sell me a fake nvidia gfx card lol, if you check out their price list they say "NVIDEA" instead of NVIDIA, and that's not a typo lol

Yup there was feedback in the forum about C2C regarding selling fake 9600GT sometime back. Newegg calculator is very basic and lacks details.
The VX450 will easily power ur rig. Check with this calculator eXtreme Power Supply Calculator

eXtreme Outer Vision - eXtreme tools for computer enthusiasts

PS: Make sure u get the latest C3 revision of the X4 945 as this has only 95w TDP whereas older version has 125w TDP

^^ +1 , Good find on the "NVIDEA'' deliberate typo ,

As far as your rig goes , I'd suggest the following

1- If you are willing to risk it - AMD Phenom II X2 - 555BE ~5k (Unlocks to a 4 core)

2- Mobo GA-74GM Gigabyte - 2.6k

3- You could sell the GPU 8800 GT (if 2 Yrs old and all stock) ~ 4k , Now left with about ~14k to work with

4- Get yourself a better GPU -- Reference designed ATi Radeon HD5770 - 9k

5- Go with the Corsair PSU ~3.5k

6- Corsair Value RAM 1GB DDR3 1333Megs ~2.4k

May get the work done probably ?

1. I want a rig that would last long, about 3-4 years, so if I unlock the cores I think it would decrease it's life because of the heat and stuff?
2. Thanks for the mobo suggestion, I'll check that out and see what it provides :)
3. Neah, I won't wanna upgrade the GPU, besides I doubt someone will buy my current 9800gt lol
4. A bit too much for my budget :)
5. Yeah, VX450 FTW
6. Are you sure it's 1 gig DDR3 ram for 2.4k? It's 2 gigs DDR3 here for 2.3k at SMC :D

Point 6 of l33t must be a typo.

The 740G chipset in the Giga mobo has chipset limitations and might throttle processor performance. Also it uses older PCI-E standard IINM.

Its better to get a 785G based AM3 mobo considering u have the budget for it.

Also for the 17" monitor that u use and the resolution u game at, the 9800GT will suffice.

^^ Damn , 2GiB , Sorry yes , You could also check out the XMS3 Modules , 3-4 years would do fine imo , if you think that I might just not be worth it then you could get yourself a CM Hyper212+ ~ 1.8k , would keep that chip nice and cool . 3 & 4 are kinda clubbed suggestions you can go for the 5770 only if you can sell the 8800 :p

Just a quick question about the mobo, sorry if this thread's getting a bit too long lol

Mobo as recommended by DarkAngel was the MSI 785GM E-45 and when I contacted SMC about the availability, they said they have it and said I need to get a DDR3 with it. Thing is, MSI's website states it's a DDR2 o_O link

Or maybe the T has to do with something in 785GTM E45, d'oh I'm confused now :S

I can't find 785GM E45 anywhere, maybe because I'm sleepy :p
Can you please post a link to it, so I can check out the manual and stuff and see pics's of it :)

Possibly DarkAngel meant to say MSI 785GM-E51. I know this board costs around 4.1-4.2k .

Last I checked the MSI 880GMA-E45 was around 5.6k. This model has USB 3.0 & SATA 6Gb/s.

Yup i meant the MSI 785GM-E51. I just copy pasted the specs from his initial post and forgot to edit the mobo name :ashamed:
