@touzeen: Great color in the Impure Spectrum shot! I like the last one as well.

@ANP: Try a high contrast HDR - like a landscape. These are just flat and without context, I know it's your first try but a high contrast scene benefits a lot more from HDR than any other. Play around with the levels and curves as well!

@ishashank: Please, please put in thumbnails or upload a smaller version of your photos - 800x600 or even 1000x750 types. Your one upload completely screws up the page. A 5MP embedded image is criminal!

@BF_1983: Decent shots, but do try to innovate a bit more. The first one is the best of the lot, but there is something missing from each of the shots. Hope you understand. :) Will try to be more specific next time.

Guys, maybe we should all upload images at around 800-1000px width. The thread will look clean for anyone with monitor above 15" nor will the images be too small - like BF's and Blade_runner's thumbnails.

Back to photography, here's one from me:

Waterlily - Straight out of camera, no PP

D.payne, these were very high contrast subjects, since it was around 11am and sun was shinning directly onto them, its hard for me to do HDR, since my cam doesnt have AEB.

@delirious: Your shots always have a story to tell. Good ones.

@touzeen: The impure spectrum shot is amazing ! And innovative use of the sansa clip :eek:hyeah:

@BF: Great silhouettes

@Abhishek: What Payne said........

@Payne: It would be great from a visual point of view but a lot of members are on slower connections as well so thumbnails would be a balance option imo.

Here are two more from me :)

@bladey: Bigger thumbnails perhaps? :) A 400-500px wide images takes up barely 60-70kb. That's how most of my initial shots were till I started posting 1000px wide ones. The problem with the really small thumbnails is that we have to open new windows, a 500px image is a perfect intermediate. IMHO. :D

@ANP: Agreed the D40 doesn't have AEB, but it really is quite easy to do exposure bracketing. In HDRs and Panos, the aperture/ISO/Focus-distance have to remain constant anyway. So you're left to adjust only the shutter-speed, and for that it's just about pure math:

+/- 0.3 EV : Adjust shutter by 30% higher and lower

Example: +0.3 EV - Lower shutter by 30%, i.e, if you 0EV = 1/1000s, then +0.3 EV = 1/640s (this is the closest standard shutterspeed available). -0.3 EV = 1/1250s (again, closest possible).

Similarly for +/- 0.7 EV. For +/- 1EV, just halve and double the metered shutterspeed.

Hope that helps. If you dint know it already, that is. :)

Agreed! I think thumbnails are better. I don't think opening an image in a new tab is THAT big an hassle! :)

Wow, wow and double wow. WOW.

ANP, you've produced 2 beauties with that new lens! I like both of them equally, the first one is a winner in composition and the second one is so surreal!

Cheers!
