Smartphone getting from US..need suggestions..

So i asked my uncle for mp4 player but instead he suggested me to take smart phone.

So he said he'l take smartphone there(mostly from att) and send with one of our relatives..

Now i want to know whether the phone will work here with AIRCEL sim..?

First he said he'l send Motorola Droid X..but on searching about it i found that its CDMA and it won't work here...

So what are the good smartphones available there which works here??

And can i unlock it here or i need to take it to the store to unlock..?

Motorola Atrix
Motorola Photon 4G (it is world phone, CDMA/GSM and in India only GSM will work, GSM won't work in USA, sprint has locked it, they are fkers)
Samsung Focus (Windows phone)
Samsung Captivate / Vibrant (Same as Samsung Galaxy S but without front camera or radio)

^^Unlocking depends. If you are getting an AT&T locked phone then most of them can be unlocked to work in India for free or by buying the unlock code from ebay for a small fee.

I would suggest you to first drill down to your choices and then we can say whether it is easy to unlock it or not.
