knocking on heavens door.

thinking about going to the dark...errr....blue side
anyway.....need an sandy build for Herr fuhrer(as usual i get to build it :p)
here's what i have thought....
2600k
p67mobo[giga preferred]
cheapest of rams possible(2gb will do fine for now)
and others except keyboard + mouse....
monitor at-least 22 incher....
so is it possible to get everything under 40k? or i have to increase more?

Intel i7 2600K ~16.9k

Gigabyte P67A-UD3R~9.5k.

Dell / Benq / Samsung 22 " ~ 10.5k

Corsair/Gskill 2*2 Gb 1600MHz ~ 2.9k

Total - 39.8 k

But Core i5 2500k is excellent VFM CPU .The only difference is the i5 lacks HT and 2MB cache and clocked 100MHz lower

With this budget go for a 2500k without a shadow of doubt. 2600k is too expensive for this budget.

Also, do for MSI P67 GD80(13k) or HD 65(10.5k), both in B3. Else Gigabyte UD4 B3(12.5k).

As for monitor, go for Dell U2311 IPS panel. Whatever you do, don't settle for less than 23/24" and preferably eIPS panel.

If you can afford it, go for 2x4GB DDR3 1600mhz XMS3 or GSkill Ripjaws. Costs around 5-6k or so.

But even if you go for 2x2GB, then go for GSkill Ripjaws CAS 8 at 3k total.

What is your primary usage? If its gaming, better to go for i5 2500K. Invest the money saved in getting the Dell IPS - U2311 (if I remember the model right).

^^ First of in the PC buying section whenever asking for advice please follow this template irrespective of whether you only need to buy the cabinet or an entire RIG -- http://www.techenclave.com/pc-buying-advice/template-what-should-i-buy-use-143714.html

For your usage I think it is for gaming and over-clocking, so this is what I'll pitch --

Intel Core i5 2500k ~ 11000/- TheITWares - One Stop for all Gizmos!Intel Core i5 2500K Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz (3.7GHz Turbo Boost) 4 x 256KB L2 Cache 6MB L3 Cache LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor BX80623I52500K

ASUS P8P67 PRO B3 ~ 11500/- TheITWares - One Stop for all Gizmos!ASUS P8P67 PRO B3 Revision LGA 1155 Intel P67 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard OR Gigabyte P67A-UD3R B3 ~ 10500/- Gigabyte P67A-UD3R(B3 Revision) Sandy Bridge

Dell U2311H ~ 13500/- (an IPS based panel instead of the regular TN based panels which work out cheaper) OR Dell ST2220L ~ 8500/- (standard TN based panel with a decent performance in budget).

G.Skill Trident 1600 MHz CL-8 2x 2GB kit ~ 3000/- (a proper steal deal don't miss out on this one) G-SKILL[ Trident ] PC3-12800 / DDR3 1600 Mhz/cl-8-8-8-24 (2Gx2)

Corsair VX 550W ~ 4400/- (to run the rig) OR Cooler Master Silent Pro M600 ~ 6000/- Cooler Master Silent Pro M600 OR Corsair TX750 ~ 6600/- Corsair 750TX

Graphic card you've not mentioned but for this RIG will recommend the AMD HD 6950 2GB reference design ~ 16500/- Sapphire Radeon HD 6950 - 2GB (if you are lucky you can unlock this card to the HD 6970 with a simple BIOS flash), if you want an nVidia alternative go for the GTX 560 Ti ~ 13500/- ZOTAC GeForce GTX 560 Ti 1GB HDM. AnandTech - Bench - GPU11

Total will come upto ~ 40000/- -- 50000/- depending on what you want.

The Intel Core i7 2600k is not worth a ~ 5500/- increase in price over i5 2500k for what it brings to the table which is ~ Hyper Threading (HT), 2 MB > L3 cache on i5 2500k + 100 MHz frequency increment. AnandTech - Bench - CPU.

Hope this helps and explains the entire pile of morass I've written.

@Alpha17 where can i get the Dell U2311H for 13.5k. The Dell showroom in Bangalore has quoted 16k and its not available with any of the dealers at SP Road.

^^ Wait for sometime bruv, go to Golccha, he offered it to me for ~ 14500/- two months back, 13500/- is the price from SMC International, Delhi it is the base price so --

SMC International price < any other price offered, add ~ 1500/- to 2000/- depending wherever you are and you'll get the price.

I remember that a member had said that SMC international is getting a new shipment of the Dell U2311 H soon so keep your fingers crossed. It is my bad that I gave base price. Cheers.

@Alpha17 No problems buddy, I do understand. I am trying to build an i5 2500 based rig and had visited both Ashirwad and Golcha. Ashirwad did not have the NZXT Gamma cabinet and MSI Cyclone card, recommended here. Golcha had most of the stuff recommended here except GA-H67MA-UD2H-B3, which no dealer in Bangalore seems to have. Anyway, he also did not have the U2311H, but said it would cost 14,800. He offered to sell me Dell U2410 IPS monitor for 26k.

Another interesting pricing difference. Ashirwad offered the i5 2500 for 10.1k while Golcha quoted 9k!

See, it all depends on Golccha Sirs' mood if he were in a bad mood he might've said 11000/- or so, glad to know that he gave you a good quotation, Golccha is the guy who has the cheapest NZXT Gamma prices on S.P. Road.

I've developed a decent rapport with Golccha, gets me good deals on most equipment.

Yeah...he looked in a good mood...being a weekday he had a lot of time to spare for me....all his quoted were below Ashirwad...quoted 9.5k for MSI 6850 Cyclone. The only oddity was his 5.5k quote for the MSI H67MA-35 B3.

sorry guys....didnt take look @ the formatting.....will do from the next time...

@alpha.....the GPU is the least of my worries right now....i might even go 5450 xfire :p

thanks for all your suggestion.....

will check them and post back:)

Ashirwad Computers at SP Road Bangalore finally managed to locate a Dell U2311H for me...got it for 13950/-

Also got an i5 2500 rig assembled from the same dealer. Since Gigabyte H67 UD2H B3 is just not available in bangalore, I went with ASUS P8H67-M EVO B3 for 7950/-

I got this particular one over the M-PRO because it has firewire ports too, besides 4 RAM slots. Price updates in the SP Road thread.
