hello friends ,
i am ready to upgrade to new mobile device, but lots of options available in market left me confused.

so i am looking to go for
1.SAMSUNG galaxy s3 GT-i9305 (LTE version with 2GB ram) @ 30-31k
2.Google's LG NEXUS 4 @ 24-26k
3.I AM OPEN TO SUGGESTIONS.

OR
kindly suggest me which device i should choose.i am open to other models.i only have one preference i.e the mobile should be PORTABLE.(GALAXY NOTE 2 IS PRETTY BIG for me).

help is really appreciated

based on a lots of benchmarks and unboxing videos on youtube,
i observed that Samsung galaxy s3 CPU + RAM is better than Nexus 4.Is that true?(i know that Adreno 320 on NEXUS 4 is way better than mali 400 on SGS3.)
(i rarely play games on mobile/PC).

also,the GUI on Samsung S3 is way easy and organized than stock android on NEXUS 4?

Only thing that can beat S4 Pro of Nexus 4 is S600 and S800 by qualcomm itself, the whole architecture is better then Exynos of S3 which is based on 32nm whereas S4 Pro is based on 28nm.
Stock android is wayy better than TouchShit UI in terms of smoothness and performance, it's lighter on system resources as well.

i know that real life performance is different.but i am comparing it to get a rough idea which one will suite me better,both nexus and SGS3 are good phones.


PLEASE CORRECT ME IF I AM WRONG.

check out CPU-I+ CPU-F for galaxy s3= 4072+3090=7162. also MEM = 3507
and for NEXUS 4 CPU-I + CPU-F= 4405+2570 = 6675 AND MEM = 2391

as far as antutu benchmark is taken as reference,
for CPU + RAM performance = S3 >NEXUS 4
an for graphic = NEXUS 4 >SGS3

Yup you are right in all the calculations but do consider these things :

  • CPU floating point calculations is better in S3 but it will loose in CPU integer point calculations against the Nexus, on this basis you can not judge which cpu is better or not.
  • Regarding memory nexus 4 clearly looses but again it has better SD read/write(virtual memory) capabilities.
  • In GPU front again nexus has clear edge on S3.

In total SoC works like a unit and Nexus 4 has an overall better SoC because it's fabricated on current gen 28nm manufacturing process.

PS : For Nexus 4 CPU-I + CPU-F : 4405+2570 = 6975 not 6675 :p

Please guys, stop making the assumption that just because it's 28 nm v/s 32 nm, the 28 nm SOC will be better. It depends on the architecture, number of GPU cores, memory bandwidth and bus, etc. etc.

Everybody knows the Nexus will definitely get Android version updates from Google, more in number and also earlier than any other phone! And also TouchWiz does not compare to stock Android! Its so kiddish overall!

@OP do buy the nexus 4! Also buy a decent back cover!!!!
