This one atleast looks like an upgrade unlike the Rebel XTi which was more a downgrade than an upgrade. Addition of spot metering is a nice move. The other good thing is getting rid of the old 18-55 and replacing it with the new IS version which is an infinitely superior lens. I'd still pick the 40D though for a bit more. Its the perfect body for an amateur photographer .
