Query regarding customs clearance

Hi,

I am getting a watch from HK. It was mailed through HK post. Frrm July 2nd the status shows Send item to customs (Inb) in Mumbai

Anyone has any idea how long it takes for customs clearance. Or do i need to follow up on this and send some information to mumbai customs ?

I haven't been lucky with my previous shipments aswell. I had ordered some watch straps from HK and Singapore last year. I never got those. Did not have the tracking number for those shipments.
 
Whenever you import something keep two things in mind,

1) Shipment should be via Fedex and DHL
2) If not, then break;

This is simply due to the reason, DHL and Fedex has got their own custom clearing agent, and they clear customs within minutes. I find DHL more helpful in the case, if your item is being held by the custom guyz due to some problem, they will do every paperwork from top to bottom from your side within few hours, and you have to just sign it and mail them back, and tada !!!!!!
