The latest f.w of ps3 was soft bricking the consoles. The f/w upgrade was rolled back by sony after the news.
I hope you havent updated the console during that time..?
The consoles which have been soft bricked can be revived without breaking a sweat via official means. So no need to go berserk on that front. Breathe easy and get to the bottom of the problem your console is throwing up.
