I have bought a Samsung Series 5 46" LCD TV in 2009 from Jumbo Electronics. After 1.5 years of usage I started getting this display problem :

(the above video is not of my tv, but it's exactly the same problem I am having)

Here r the details :

Model No : LA46A550P1RMXL

S.No : 079232EQ400002T

Version : AA01

I called the Samsung customer care & he told me that it's a panel issue & the whole panel needs to be changed & it's gonna cost me about 20K.

So I just wanted to know, if any of you guys have faced a similar issue & what did you do to resolve it?

Thanks for the reply, but it's not like it's the problem is occurring all the time, this happens after approx 45 mins after the TV is switched on. Then the screen flickers & then it goes away. I am guessing had it been a panel issue, the problem would have been more persistent, isn't it?

panel gone = throw tv in dustbin.

try to switch the hdmi port to a different hdmi port or check if the hdmi cable has gone kaput.

the op can try selling the panel to samsung service centre itself. I sold my 2.5 yr sony 32" with panel defect to sony and they took it for 8k

Oh sorry,i was under the impression that 3yrs was standard.

3yrs warranty only given by panasonic rest all give 1yr warranty but i think we can get extended warranty from company if we pay some additional warranty fee

Philips gives or used to give 4 years warranty.

yes philps was giving 4yrs warranty last yr but dont know if at present also they are giving the same.

and it is always better to opt for extended warranty if the company offers 1yr warranty

which most of companies do provide for some additional charge

than to save few rs now and latter paying huge amount if display gets damaged

Can someone please check and describe the "3" yrs warranty from Panasonic?
From what i have heard, it's not much different from others and technically is 1 year only- remaining 2 years is paid parts/labour IIRC, which other brands do too. :)
