  • PSU - Antec VP450P -2500,
  • Cabinet - Cooler Master Elite 311 -2300,
  • Hard Disk - WD Caviar Blue 1TB -3500,

  • TOTAL -18,800.

^ I would swap out the H81 based motherboard to a GIGABYTE B85M-D3H or MSi B85M-ECO, for these reasons.

Sure it adds to the cost but at-least you get quality components. Also, if you are swinging GIGABYTE's side check the Rev. variant of the board you get.

No one can say that with any certainty until they purchase that particular SKU and do a bit of RnD on it.

any asus should do, unfortunately the ones i found online are all 5k+.
i don't see any reason not to go with a cheaper h81 board as the differences as far as i can see is the number of usb 3.0 & sata III ports and lack of pcie 3.0 (needed for a powerful gfx card).

plenty of h81 boards from msi, asus and asrock that are in budget.
just avoid gigabyte for reasons ALPHA17 posted.

So I have been offered the following from a renowned retailer in Mumbai -

1. Processor
Intel G3220 - 3800 or intel i3 4150 - 7800

2. Motherboard
Gigabyte H81 - 3400 or Gigabyte B85M-D3H - 5600 or Asus B85 MG - 5750

3. Hard Disk
Seagate 1 Tb - 3500 or WD Caviar Blue 1 Tb - 3700

4. Dvd Writer
Dvd Writer LG - 900

5. Mice and/or keyboard
Logitech MK200 - 800
Logitech M185 - 750

6. Cabinet
Circle 515 - 1750(with PSU)
CM elite 311 - 2350

7. PSU
Antec VP500 - 2500

My questions:
1. Should I go for Asus B85MG ?
2. Would you advise using the in built PSU in the circle 515 cabinet ?
3. WD > Seagate ?

1. yes, you can def. go for it, however, enquire about any asus h81 boards.
2. i would advise against using either because a) it's a bad idea to skimp on psu quality and b) the circle (and similar zebronics, intex etc.) cabinet will show signs of rust in a year (or less in my case)
the cm elite is sturdier and better made.

1. Any specific reason to enquire about the asus H81 ?
2. Yes as @bssunil and you suggested, ill go for CM elite and a dedicated PSU.

1. Go with Asus B85M-G
2. No, Go with Antec PSU & Cooler Master Cabinet
3. WD only

2. Antec VP500 is good too right ? as the VP450 is not available.
3. Any specific reason for WD ? The retailer told me that WD would be onsite warranty support whereas Seagate, they would handle the warranty.

Go with the following config buddy:

  • CPU - Intel Pentium G 3220 -4000,
  • Motherboard - Gigabyte H81M-S1 -3500,
  • PSU - Antec VP500 -2500,
  • Cabinet - Cooler Master Elite 311 -2300,

  • DVD/RW - Asus 24D3ST DVDRW -1000,
  • Wireless Combo - Logitech MK220 -2000.
  • TOTAL -18,800.

h81 is cheaper and compared to b85 it has the same features minus pci-e 3.0 and fewer usb 3 and sata 3 ports (about 2 of each). since you won't be using any of the extra features of the b85, some savings without could be had here.

the better warranty is one reason. also most people have had a more reliable experience with wd drives. be sure to get the blue as the green is a lot slower.

Hi Viraj, can you please share the name of the dealer at Mumbai who gave you those rates. The prices look good and I would like to go in for the same config.

Thanks
