Buying pc for a friend on monday from NP, please suggest configuration for 25000. If possible he wants a 19" lcd monitor and 2 GB ram as well. He will use it for movies and casual gaming for now, and add graphic card later when he has more money. Here are the peripherals needed:

Motherboard+Proc
RAM
HDD
Monitor
UPS
Cabinet+SMPS
Speaker
DVD Writer
Keyboard+Mouse

He will not be overclocking at all so please don't consider that factor. What i have in mind for the Mobo+Proc is:

1. Biostar 790G with AMD X2 7750+
or
2. Gigabyte GA-G31M-S2L with E7300

Will the above setups fit in the budget? If so, i want to go for the AMD setup since it has better onboard graphics. Please throw in your suggestions.

Motherboard+Proc - Gigabyte GA-G31M-S2L with E7300 - 8.2k

RAM - Corsair 2x2GB 800Mhz - 2.8k

HDD - Seagate 500GB - 3k

Monitor - Samsung 20" 2033SW - 6.9k (Awesome for Movies 16:9) OR Dell 19" - 7.2k

UPS - NOT RECOMMENDED (Bad Experiences - UPS blowing up PCs.... EVN APC ups blowing up high end power supplys :( Except UPS costing > rs. 4k )

Cabinet+SMPS - Zebby Bijli - 1.2k

Speaker - VS4121 - 2.9k

DVD Writer - Samsung 22x - 1.1k

Keyboard+Mouse - Microsft combo - 0.7k

Total ~ 25k

Motherboard+Proc - Athlon X2 7750 BE + Biostar TA 790GX 128M(with 128MB Sideport memory) - 8.7k

Rest of the config as Sato1986 put it.

The 790GX is >>>> the G31. Additionally, you won't be at an upgrade dead end, since socket AM2+ happily takes socket AM3 processors.

The intel config will give you better computing performance, but the 790GX is hands down a better IGP.

Suggestions:

See if you can find a 7850BE. Additionally see if you can afford to replace the 7750/7850 with a tri core. The x3 8650 shouldn't be too far from the E7300 in terms of performance. It'll add about 1k to your budget. Maybe you can pick slightly cheaper speakers and throw in the tri core.

Thanks sato, but UPS is a must since there are frequent power cuts in delhi these days.

@lxq_ikrana, thanks for your input.

There is not much difference b/w E5200 and E7400... Both are based on similar architecture... For ur needs E5200 would do well... Below 5K the 4670 is the best card and consumes very little power 8W when idle and 50W when in load which is cool....:)

So at 25.6K~ it will beat any other config around 25K hands down IMO:hap2: So u have ur GPU too so need not worry abt upgrading it later... Will recommend CM 390W@1.8K though and so at 26 K u have a well balanced rig....
If u need UPS then cut the GPU for now and go for the APC 650VA@3.1K and add the GPU after few months :(
