OS for AMD Athlon 64 LE 1640

Hey

I was thinking to install windows 7 64 bit on my pc .CPU is AMD Athlon 64 LE 1640 .

Well , currently m using 32 bit OS as I've 2gb ram.I'm going to purchase 2gb ram soon.

Will, 64bit OS give good performance as compared to 32bit ?

I had purchased pc 3 years ago.
 
Don't install a 64-bit OS till u get that extra 2 gb of RAM...once u get the extra RAM install win 7 64-bit since a 32 bit OS can use atmost 3 gb of ram ;)
 
Yes,I'm aware of it, thats the reason , I'm using 32bit OS.

I'm concerned abt performance , as I've to re-download many applications for 64bit OS .
 
Most of the commonly used apps work well on 64 bit, I have been using 64 Bit for a long time now (xp 64 bit before win 7), and faced very little compatibility related issues, some very old games and really old software(which are not .net or java based may give issues) most of the other 32 bit software will work in 32 bit mode itself.
 
Generally system programs are architecture specific, application programs will work as usual regardless of the x86 or x64 operating system. You will have to get the x64 bit drivers for your system.
