Nvidia pulls C51, Geforce 6150 motherboards

JUST WHEN the company was ready for reviews and when it actually shipped its long awaited C51, Geforce 6150 and 6100 motherboards it discovered some serious flaws and had to get all the boards back.

We learned about it from a manufacturer that had to withdraw all of its boards as it might cause very unhappy users. The first flaw was Nvidia firewall related, as today boards usually have two LAN ports.

Nvidia had its firewall on just one LAN port but it was never marked on which one.

The Average Joe would plug the card in whichever was closest to him when he put the machine together and that might cause a problem with date security as he/she would believe that they are Nvidia firewall protected. Not a big deal but it still caused Nvidia to pull back the boards.

Second flaw was more serious as some chaps claim to have experienced data corruption with this chipset. Actually this problem is present at Nforce 4 motherboards as well, it's claimed by some, and the Nvidia forum have a lot to tell about it. You can check it out here

C51, Geforce 6150 and 6100 motherboards will redeploy shortly but we will be looking closely into this potential data corruption problem. We are waiting for a comment at press time.
