Ok i m planning to buy a new rig.. budget is 20-25k excluding lcd.. pls suggest which one to buy amongst the two or three?? purpose would be occasional gaming on a 19'lcd.. don't mind playing games at avg detailing..

Motherboard - Intel 945 or 965? huge price difference.. 945 for 1850 and 965 for 4950 from CE.
Graphics Card - i m totally confused at which one to buy considering the various prices.. nvidia 9500, 9400, 8400?? which ones better and why? the 8400 is cheap at 1900 as compared to the 9400,9500 which are for 3250 and 3900 respectively (from CE) or any other u recommend? preferably nvidia..

Also is the E7300 fine?
other details
RAM - 2x2GB Kingston - Rs. 1325 x 2
HDD - 500gb sata seagate

Next issue is choosing the cabinet and SMPS.. the guy at CE told to me to buy coolermaster 330 with SMPS 390W for Rs. 2850.. do u guys think otherwise considering the specifications of the pc? temperature, etc??

And are there any other differences b/w the Dell SE 198WFP and the samsung 943NWX except the DVI thing?

Many thanks in advance! :D

Prices r latest, CE, all inclusive.

Mobo - Gigabyte GA-G31M-S2L 2.45k

CPU - Intel E7300 5.5k

RAM - Transcend 2x2GB 800Mhz Rs. 2.46k

HDD - Seagate 500GB 7200.11 ST3500320AS 3.14k

GPU - Palit 8600GT 512MB GDDR3 3.6k

330 is not very good looking, too much silver. Latest 334, 335 r good. Price is same. Get 460W CM SMPS, 400-500 more.

CM Elite 330 with SMPS 390W

945, 965 r outdated chipsets.

for gaming minimum buy 8600GT (9500GT is same thing w/ slight clock change, dont pay too much premium) try to get 512 GDDR3 version.

Plz keep bold things in mind.

Thanks for the suggestions.. I was thinking of buying a ASUS motherboard instead of the gigabyte one.. wat do u think of P5K VM costing 4.9k? I don't mind any other model provided its intel or asus and less than 5k..

i was thinking of buying the Dell SE198WFP but its not available at CE or CTC or any other authorised dell retailer.. instead the CE guy mentioned some dell 1909 model for Rs. 8650.. so which one should i buy now that the SE198 is not available.. samsung 943NWX or the dell 1909?

P.S i don't care about the DVI thing if that is the only difference b/w the samsung 943 and the dell SE198.. Thanks!

stay away from asus if u dont intend to use free aftersales service.:)

gigabyte board mentioned above is a gr8 board for ur needs.

Go with Dell SE 198WFP it'll suit you better.

Since you are into a bit of gaming and that too on a 19'' monitor I think you ought to get a better GFX card. Get the Following :

CPU - Intel E7300 Rs.5350/-

MOTHERBOARD - Gigabyte GA-G31M-S2L Rs.2350/- save money here

RAM -Transcend 2x1GB800Mhz Rs.1400/-you can always upgrade ram in

future

HDD - WD 500GB SATAII Rs.3050/-

GFX - Gigabyte/Palit/XFX GeForce 8600GTS Rs.3800/- this is different from 8600gt and performs far-far better(minimum if ur planning to play at native 1440x900).

Extra Dough you just saved there can be spent on making your investment more future proof by buying 1gb more ram and a better chipset motherboard.

That's all folks.

ok thanks.. on a side note if i can stretch my budget and buy the MSI 9600GT 512Mb DDR3 for 7.1k is it worth the extra premium?

Further i m getting very confused regarding mobo's.. some ppl say buy ASUS some ppl say buy Gigabyte?? i suppose Intel in also in the running.. lol.. seriously i hope the gigabyte mobo is very reliable as in it should work for 3-4 yrs.. i don't mind spending a few extra bucks if any other mobo is better in terms of quality and reliability.. Thanks!

Can anybody pls clarify assuming i'l using the Gigabyte GA-G31M-S2L. Thanks!

I was just getting there if you want a 9600GT get at least P35/p43/p45 chipset board.

Yes 9600GT is worth the extra premium if you have a board to go along with it.

Well the more i read the more i get confused..lol.. SidhuPunjab has recommended in his PC Buying Guide the GA-EP31-DS3L which is a P31 chipset with the 9600GT.. so will that do?

Further i have read in this forum that some users prefer Corsair RAM? From what i understood, reliability wise Corsair>Kingston>Transcend.. is it correct? If Corsair TWIN2X4096-6400C5 is available for Rs. 3900( from theitwares) should i buy that instead of Transcend or Kingston? I mean its only 1k or so costly.

Sorry for asking so many questions.. Thanks again :D

get the P5K-VM for 4.9k, its very good in overclocking . Get palit / zotac 9600GT around 6.5k , and buy transcend 2x2gb for 2.5k
