For your usage --

AMD A8-3850 ~ 7000/-

Gigabyte GA-A75-D2H ~ 6500/-

Corsair ValueRAM 1333 MHz 4GB x 1 ~ 1600/- [if you don't mind online purchase, The IT Wares has some spiffy deals on G.Skill RIPJAWS RAM sticks with heat-spreader starting @1600/-http://www.techenclave.com/theitwares/go-gskill-gaming-rams-best-prices-195741.html, better if you get this as Llano IGP performance improves with higher speed RAM sticks-- AnandTech - The Llano Desktop Preview: AMD A8-3850 CPU & GPU Performance]

Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 500GB OR 1TB ~ 1850/- OR 2700/-

Cooler Master eLite 370 ~ 1900/-

FSP Saga II 500W ~ 2500/-

BenQ G2220HD ~ 7500/-

This is what you should aim for a current build, if you can wait get the Bulldozer OR Sandy-Bridge set-up after saving a little more and upping the budget to 30,000/-. If you want an Intel Sandy-Bridge based RIG get this --

Intel Core i5 2400 ~ 9500/-

compatible H67 motherboard ~ 6500/-

[rest RIG configuration same as above]

AMD Llano vs. Intel Sandy-Bridge -- AnandTech - Bench - CPU.

Hope this helps.

CPU: Intel Core i5-2400 ~8500

Motherboard: Intel DH67BL (B3) ~4800

RAM GSKILL F3-12800CL9D-8GBSR (2 X 4GB) 1600Mhz DDR3~3450

Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 500GB ~1950

cabinet CM elite 310/360 ~1500/1900

Cooler master GX-450 PSU ~3300

~22k

For a HTPC device the Llano is a much better bet. But go for a 1600MHz RAM.

@VIP - Why have you recommended him 8GB RAM when 4GB is plenty for his usage :O

Thank you all for ur valuable feedback. Guess what, when i reached home my desktop didn't start. There is beeping sound coming. Any idea what could be wrong? This situation has made matter little complex for me. With no computer at home, i am confused if i should first go for laptop or desktop. Whatever i choose, i will be able to purchasd the other only after 8-9 months. My question is can laptope replace desktop. Can i use it for all purpose i mentioned above including watching movies & downloading?

A laptop can serve your requirements.Today's laptops are powerful enough to do those tasks. So a SB core i3,i5 with 4GB ram will do.

You can buy a laptop too, but in your budget you'll get a very anemic performer, definitely not worth it, better stick to a AMD Llano based PC.

Since Llano is so bandwidth constrained, it is necessary to populate both memory channels. So a 2x2GB kit will give much better performance in gaming than a single 1x4GB. Worth the extra cost.

I checked for laptop prices, all decent laptops are around 40k. So, guess have to stick with desktop.

@alpha7
Can you please tell me the complete configuration that is need to for running pc (excluding monitor, mouse and keyboard) in some list format which I can circulate to the dealers I know for prices. Also, if you can seperatly give the configuration with Bulldozer & Sandy-Bridge.

I will check for prices with ur and vip's configuration.

I am not comfortable in computer assembling, so will prefer to buy all at one place. Any recommendation for shop in Delhi/ Noida?

^^ For shops in Delhi it is SMC International as far as I know -- they have some good deals here in the Dealer's Market, links -- http://www.techenclave.com/smc-internl/smc-launches-amd-llano-series-apu-194192.html / http://www.techenclave.com/smc-internl/amd-llano-msi-a75ma-g55-4gb-195084.html.

AMD A8-3850

Gigabyte GA-A75-D2H

G.Skill RIPJAWS 4GB x 1 1600 MHz

Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 500GB ~ 1850/-; 1TB ~ 2700/-

Cooler Master eLite 370

FSP Saga II 500W

Just note this list down and present it to the shop keeper from here you wish to purchase. Hope this helps.

Thanks. You also suggested the build with the Bulldozer OR Sandy-Bridge.
Can you please also give its configuration. I will also mail it accross to SMC for quote.

Which one is better AMD A8-3850, bulldozar or i3/i5 or sandy bridge?

^^ Bulldozer by AMD isn't out yet, suspected to release around September 19th for more on the same please go to the CPU / Mobo corner --> AMD Bulldozer thread [though it is currently in shambles].

For a Sandy-Bridge set-up, here goes --

Intel Core i3 2100 / Intel Core i5 2400

Any compatible H67 chipset ~ 5500/- onwards

AMD HD 6670 (as the onboard GPU of the Intel processor is anemic compared to AMD's Redwood IGP)

[rest configuration same as Llano].

If your major priority is movie watching and download RIG, please go for the AMD A8-3850 OR Intel Core i3 2100.

Buy Corsair CX400 instead of cm psus... And you really dont require a sound card if you are not a high end gamer or dont have good speaker system at home or if you are not a sound editor... And if CX400 is not available locally then buy Seasonic S12II 430 online from theitwares

Okay first of avoid the Cooler Master eXtreme Power series SMPS, they have a bad history going behind them, if you're in NCR you should go one day to SMC International, they have most of the components I've listed, here is their website, in case you need more details like how to contact them and so on -- Contact Us, contact page.

Oh they also have all brands like FSP and Corsair too, so you can buy a better SMPS than that Cooler Master eXtreme Power SMPS.

AMD A8-3850

G.Skill RIPJAWS 4GB x 1 1600 MHz

Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 500GB ~ 1850/-; 1TB ~ 2700/-

Cooler Master eLite 370

FSP Saga II 500W

I had told you to get FSP Saga series SMPS not Cooler Master eXtreme Power, the shop keepers will try to dupe you so be careful.

Above quotes are from SMC International only. FSP it seems is not available with them. It also seems the prices they have given is on higher side.

If you dont mind buying stuff online then i would advice you to buy Seasonic S12II 430 ~ 3000 which comes with 5 Years Warranty... Plus its bronze certified and better than any PSU in 3k Range...

Though i don't mind buying online, the only problem is that I am not comfortable in assembling. So, would prefer to buy it in shop where i can get complete assembled product.

Assembling is not a hard thing to do... If you would create a thread in CPU/Mobo section a lot of people would help you... Plus you can check some videos too on youtube...

If you dont want to install it yourself then...

Here is what i would advice you to do... First buy PSU from TheITWares and once you will receive it you can go to SMC International to buy all the rest of the components and you can give the PSU to the guy who assembles the PC and he will install the PSU for you...
