Hey everyone,

I currently have a 24" 1080p 165hz acer monitor (vg240y) and looking to add another monitor for work/gaming purpose. Is 27" 1440p worth the upgrade or should i look for better deals in 27" 4k? If so, is the difference huge between these two options considering I will be using it for both gaming (mostly competitive fps games but I do play story games) and work (coding mostly). My budget is around 25-30k, but not a hard constraint.

Also, any current/upcoming deals in 1440/4k monitors will be much appreciated. Thanks

PS: I have a 3080Ti if that makes a difference in choice of the monitor

Watch this simple yet clear view:

4K takes pretty heavy impact on fps than 1440p. Since you are about to play competitive games, 4K is a big NO. Plus, 4K high refresh rate monitors are hard to get under ₹30,000, if available it would be of in the lower end which you might not want.

I have 3070 Ti. I had Viewsonic XG2405, bought Acer Nitro XV272U KV from Amazon for ₹23000 this week.

Gigabyte sale is going on (confirmed by Gigabyte rep in reddit, sale from Dec 21 to 25):

G27Q - 22k-23k
M27Q rev 2.0 - 25k-26k
FI27Q - 28k-29k

I enquired clarion computers, Gigabyte G27Q is selling at ₹21,000 shipped.

Thanks a ton, I also think 27 inch 1440 is the sweet spot for now. 4k probably only for higher end 40 series card lol

Cheapest I have seen 4K 144Hz monitors go is ~40k.

For 25k, Acer XV272U KV is a good choice, check its rtings.com review. M27Q rev 2.0 (not 1) seems promising as well.

For 4K, check new Samsung G7 28" & LG 27GN950. Again, check rtings.com reviews & compare them, if you can increase your budget. Also, check how much fps you will get in games you play at 4K. 3080Ti is a powerful card for 4K 60fps gaming, higher fps in MP games usually. You can always lower the resolution to 1440p or use DLSS/FSR quality mode to render games at 1440p & upscale.

Any review on rev 2.0?

Is the panel good for the price, or should i go for the more expensive one (lg) which is currently around 34k ?
For me, LG nano IPS is a big no because of the low contrast ratio & high price. Acer XV272U KV is a good value. Again, read rtings.com review & compare those monitors there instead of listening to people's subjective opinions here. Sadly no review for rev 2/0 of M27Q there but Hardware Unboxed did some measurements with rev 1.0 M27Q flipped to make it RGB.

4k resolution only makes sense if the screen size is large.. like maybe more than 32 inches. if buying a smaller screen size, then 2k is the best resolution.. also IMO refresh rate beyond 120hz also don't make much sense as you can't tell the difference or you need a highly trained eye for that..
