Need help regarding a google play book

So I had bought a book in 2018 December. It was the 3rd edition of the book. I started reading it in 2019 and could read about 320 pages and then due to some family work and some changes in schedule after marriage I just couldn't read it.
So I tried to finish it now.
I downloaded the book and it was 4th edition. Yeah, it got updated to 4th edition during this time.

Now, I also have the 2nd edition in pdf format but the problem is that I need the 3rd edition to finish the book as it had more pages and the topics were slightly different. Is there any way to still get the 3rd edition on play book app?
 
Can you write to the author directly? This sounds like a non fiction book, and many authors will have their contact info somewhere, and may be responsive on email.
