I have 2 computers. One is the gaming rig (mine), the other is an all purpose machine (brother's).
Existing configuration for my gaming rig:
1) AMD phenom 2 x3 720BE OC'd to 3.3 GHz.
2) Cooler master hyper evo cooler
3) Sapphire 7850 2GB (no overclock)
4) Three 1 TB hard drives
5) ASUS M4A78t-E motherboard
6) Cosair 750TX V2
7) 8 GB Gskill RAM
1 DVD drive, 2 keyboards, 1 mouse etc.
I am looking to buy a case and a motherboard for the above rig. Budget is around 5K for the case. The case should have the following:
A) Bottom PSU mount
B) ability to support at least 4 HDDs without creating a ruckus plus 2 SSDs (must)
C) Must have 90 degrees HDD tray. I am talking about the system in which the sata cable going to HDD faces opposite you and not the graphics card
D) All black interiors
E) Must have cable management holes
Good to have the following but not required:
Ability to support water cooling
Side window
Now, on to the mobo. Now, this is where I am not sure. I haven't been in touch with the latest sockets and I just know that AM3+ is the latest and greatest. Although my mobo is working fine, I am thinking that I will buy a good mobo now and later upgrade the processor too. My brother's mobo has conked off. I'll give him my ASUS mobo.
So, the mobo must have crossfire/SLI support, at least 6 SATA ports (the more the better), USB3, HD audio etc. I think all this put me in socket 990 territory. Budget can be 10 -12K for this. But, feel free to suggest cheaper mobos too as I just might buy that and give it to my brother.
I might not be clear in the motherboard requirements right now, so please forgive the ignorance.
I stay in Delhi/NCR. Online shopping, nehru place all are fine with me. If everything is available online, that would save me around a 1000 bucks worth of travel to nehru place...
