I plan to buy a Laptop for watching high-definition movies, using photoshop, after-effects Cs5, solid-works, etc and for occasionally playing games like nfs mw 3, crisis, modern warfare, etc. The screen ought to be nice and speakers good enough for casual music listening. Graphics a compulsory of 2Gb Nvidia. Can compromise on storage capacity, and external drives as I don't use dvd or blurays much. Slightly averted towards sony, acer and Lenovo laptops, otherwise can cope up with any brand. please help.

Asus N55SL @ 70k is apt for you. It has i7 2670qm + 8GB + 635M + 1080p + blu ray + Good enough speakers.
Also, you must know that 1gb or 2gb, its not the deciding factor how good a card is. People consider it as the sole factor. To utilise more vRAM, a card has to be equally fast. Even a 560M can't use 1.5gb.

Thanks a lot JuGGa for your reccomendation. Searched for the reviews regarding n55sl and Found them positive. Looks like a good package but doubt about the life of asus laptop. How do these laptops come up in the long run? Are they just as reliable as dell and hp. Any other recommendations you have? What about dell xps series? What are its shortcommings. I recently saw a Xps 13 ad. Is is good?

Asus laptops are equally good. And I didn't recommended XPS series as they have a mediocre GPU, and your purposes need a good GPU. Plus XPS has stopped giving 1080p which they might start giving after launch of 3rd gen laptops (rumor).

Well u can go for 3rd generation Intel CPU also, with 2GB GPU.
[h=3]Asus K55VM-SX086D/ 3rd Generation Core i7 / 8 GB / 1 TB ----> 55K :yahoo:
[/h]HP too has got one model with 3rd Generation Core i7 ( HP Pavilion DV6-7010TX) , but I recommend Asus .

Also if u r Looking for Core Gaming Lappy then Go for MSIGT780 or GT683 or Asus G74SX. But this are blue device, quite expensive

NB: Most Powerfull Lappy for Gaming till date is MSIGT783R, I dont think it is available in India. It has a beast GPU, GTX780x for core gaming.

The Asus model you mentioned has got 630M which is no way powerful enough considering the cost. Plus you don't even get an OS in 55k. All in all a 3rd gen i7, that's it. Better to buy the 2nd gen variant of K53SM series which gives same config in around 49k. Also, there's a GPU doesn't depends on 2GB or 1GB as you said. Mobile GPUs are not fast eough to utiliise even 1GB, 2GB is just a marketing gimmick.
