In light of these conditions, we decided not to stay at the hotel and promptly contacted your support team to raise a complaint. I followed your instructions and provided photographs to illustrate the situation. at the accommodation meets basic standards.
Feel free to post them here by using the 'Attach files' button below the box where you type

At least you got a room. Imagine arriving at a hotel to find out that the MMT booking is not honoured and then having MMT customer service only offer a refund while you are stranded.

Found it better to book with the hotel directly and negotiate the prices. They normally match or offer a lower price than MMT.

I had the worst first experience with mmt, I booked a bus ticket with them, but the bus never showed up at the depot so I raised a dispute and to this date(booked ticket in start of November) the ticket is open, if you call their helpline, it will say that "your request is under process" and end the call. they have no other way to contact them. I pretty much got scammed and nothing I can do.

Recently i have stopped booking from these sites....i check the ratings and hotels on multiple sites and then check the price on their respective sites and usually it is cheaper there and if booking option is not there then call them directly. Has been much better lately booking directly

I second that, we did the same during our last Sikkim trip. Call the hotel and get the best price, even better than any booking apps.

As expected, the OP did a drive by posting and vanished. No pics mean it didn't happen. Purposely I asked for it

Happened with me 15 years ago.
It goa trip and a hotel on bagha beach, pre booked all hotel stays and travel.

@bagha hotel, they did not received any intimation about MMT booking, after a talk with MMT support they assured I will be refunded.

Atleast, hotel staff was able to give me a room.

And MMT Saga still continues till day

Other thing one can do while booking via these third party apps is give a call or send a mail to the respective hotel or property and confirm with them the same day or next day if it is 2+ days advanced booking or call them right away if it is same day or next day booking. I have tried this also last year when i was not able to get a direct booking via the hotel site but agoda showed available room and was able to book from there. Then i called them immediately to confirm as i was to reach there late evening only.

Oh boy, we experienced the same shit with MMT, I splurged a little for my parent's marriage anniversary and booked them a trip around Gujrat and I slipped up at one hotel, the hotel "boasted" a premium river front room and I thought why not let's get it, the only niggle was it was suspiciously priced very cheap and while I was concerned, I still went ahead with the booking, (parents were already stressing over the spending but lesson learned, dont tell them about the costs if you want to send them off happily).

On reaching the hotel, the lobby was dirty, the room lacked all the bare essentials and the hotel didnt have electricity, forcing my parents to sit in the dark for over an hour, and when they went to check out the restaurant, the manager was napping on the floor and there was bits of food lying on the floor and that was it for my parents, I scrambled to get them a hotel and luckily managed to snag a good one, but when I approached MMT about the hotel issues and asked for a refund, they blanked refused us the refund and the reason was, the hotel manager refused the refund and everything was fine according to them, like b**ch, ofc they would say this and the chargeback didnt work for me because in the scramble to find a different hotel, my parents didnt take any pictures of the room, or anything and we had no proof aside from their word and the fact we left the hotel within two hours of check in.

But yeah, lesson learned, always book atleast ITC hotels despite the price, they are worth it just from the fact they'll make you whole in some way if you face any issues, and never use any travel agency online.

Man always check reviews and check latest pics on google uploaded by people. And always try to book directly as most of the times they have more discounts. Have made this my habit now.

yeah, that was a brain fart from my end, I usually get ITC or similar 5 star hotels because if you do a significant enough booking (15k+, multiple days), they'll normally give you free perks like a room upgrade etc but parents were really stressing over the budget so I went with it, and the reviews on MMT/google were good but on hindsight, I focused on the positive reviews because of the "deal" I was getting, guess I am a proper asian : D, but yeah lesson learned, book from reputed hotels only.

Happens, rather then checking positive reviews i now look for the 1-2-3 star reviews and then sort them from latest and then check the 4-5 star reviews.

yep, thats my default go to, ignore all 5 and 1 stars, and pay attention to 3-4s and you can get a pretty good idea about the thing in question
