hello friends

I need the information on the ISO file size .
can it be much larger than the actual files size ...

I downloaded two tutorials from a website .
they are in .iso format (287MB & 213MB) .
instead of burning them to two CDs , I wanted
to make a single CD . so I extracted them to
two folders . Now I find that the total size of
actual files is much less than the original iso s .
(259MB & 85MB)

I used winrar 3.51 for the extraction . I doubt
if the extraction was incorrect . Testing of iso s
with the winrar showed no errors .

what do you analyze from this ? I searched the net
and found no relevant information . could you help me ...

thanks
seshu

i also had a similar problem..downloaded a iso from net which was ~700mb..extracted to 4.2 GB ..

even if i added or modified anything using a iso manager the size would come near to 4 gb...:(

well i have never heard about bloated iso's plz tell me seshu wat have u downloaded(maybe thru PM),
but super_saiyan, the iso's u have encountered are optimized iso's, it must be an all in one iso which is having a lots of versions of same program like allversions of windows xp

Yes its ri8!

It will be larger in size if its extracted....using ny of d iso edits...

some files will be used by more than 1 reference in the applications..
N dose will be written only once, n rest will be given reference(aka sfotlinks)..
wen extratced.. it will be more in number of files....so the size also...

other than that..... in the process of making an ISO u can do compression also... even it cld be bcoz of this......

No worries.... with that....
:eek:hyeah: :eek:hyeah:
