Its just a HDD like there is onein the machine. No probs. I actually had started downloading torrents directly to my external HDD because the lappy is not mine but company provided.

Not a problem at all, but make sure you turn it off if you feel it is running too hot (and since from very long) as the Branded portable hdd does not have any cooling provisions.

^OT: am facing another issue with my 1TB Maxtor basics, am unable to defrag it, every time it says it has a Chkdsk scheduled and even after running a chkdsk i get same message.
