Iconic cellphone models

I was having a discussion with my friend about some of the iconic phone models, that will be remembered long after they are gone from the market. Here are a few I came up with (DISCLOSURE: I have owned or used most of them)

Nokia 5110: the original brick, I think most of us who had cellphones in the last century had owned one of these

Nokia 3110 : still the best selling phone of all time?

SE w810: The 550 introduced the Walkman brand, but the 810 had it all, great sound, camera

Nokia n73: a techenclave favourite, possibly the largest selling smartphone of all time

Nokia n82: best camera, great features, the Jacque Kallis of cellphones

iPhone: need we say anything more?

What's in your list?

i think you mean the Nokia 3310 and not the 3110?

also, SE K750i which wowed the world with its camera when it first came out. you could also count the Nokia 7650 (i think that was the model) which was the first camera phone if i remember correctly.

then there was the Nokia 6600 which was like the 3310 of smartphones. so many people owned one.

+1 for the 8210 - When I saw it for the first time, I knew I wanted one and saved up money like crazy to get one

My lineup of iconic phones would consist of

1997-1999 Nokia 5110 I had a single line display Ericsson 628 back then and I'd be green with envy looking at folks playing snake on its (then gorgeous) multipixel high res display

1999-2000 Panasonic GD90 - People went gaga over its weight (lack of) and the polyphonic ringtones

2000-01 Nokia 3310 Ah, the amazing SMS speeds you could achieve on this thing

2000-2002 Nokia 8210 One of the classiest looking phones - ever -

2002-03 Siemens SL45i (Never was very common but was an object of envy since this was possibly the first phone with computer connectivity, MP3 playback and Java support)

2003-2005 Nokia 6600 Another object of desire .. One of the first true smartphones in the Indian market

2003-2005 SE T610

2006-2007 Nokia N73

2007- till date iPhone

Can easily remember Samsung R220 which fancied too many people with it's blue display :D

+1 to that. It competed rigorously with the Nokia 3310 in the Indian Market though 3310 was in a league of its own.

Nokia Communicator series and Sony P8xx and P9xx series were also quite Iconic.

Others that come to mind are the first Nokia N-Gage (that looked like a portable video game than a phone, but still sold quite a bit), Motorola E398 for its multimedia capabilities, Samsung X600 (one of the first decent color camera phones)

You are way too old :p

i have to put 6600 right up there in the list, it was the iPhone of its time.

How about the Motorola E398?it was a favorite among the modders.

I made a mention of the same :p I had a Motorola E365 bought just a while before the E398 released. While E365 was nothing much to write about, E398 was a huge improvement.

My priority order
1. Nokia 7650
2. SE T610
3. MOTO RAZR V3
4. Nokia 8210/8250 ..wow looks
:eek:hyeah: I bought a second-hand 8210 couple of years for just 1 grand, awesome frickin light weight phone but had to sell it off due to some malfunctioning keys

Definately the Nokia 3110 and Nokia 1100 bag the 1st spot jointly in my list.

Here is the list:
1. Nokia 3110, Nokia 1100
2. Nokia 6600
3. Motorola RAZR
4. Sony Ericsson K750i
5. Nokia N95
6. Nokia N82
7. Apple iPhone
8. T-Mobile G1
9. Nokia 5800XM

how about the 3210 ? i think it was one of the first few phones that didnt have an external antenna afaik

3110, 8210, k750i, n95

no i am not biased about the last 2 phones :p even though i owned them  K750 was a true all rounder for me. it had eerything you'd ever want, good screen, small size, great camera, great sound, and it was VFM for all that features.

N95. has everyhting, but I still say its better than the new gen phones released by nokia. worst feature missing in newer phones is the graphics chip :p only worse part is the truly sad battery life.

The last Nokia I owned ages ago, and still love it's looks and form factor

Nokia 8250

Never been a cellphone guy per se. But I loved SE T610 and then got completly swept off by SE K750i. So much so, I bought it in it's early days for 18 friggin K... and that's a lot for someone like me who is not much into phones.

In fact, I still haven't found a single phone that could prove itself as worthy as K750i.

Offcourse, there is iPhone. But it's much more than a phone. It is a revolutionary gadget, can't compare it to just phones. :p

I still have following with me somewhere in attic:

Siemens S10

Nokia 3110

Nokia 3210

Nokia 6800 (First foldable Qwerty of Nokia)

Ngage QD
