how to solve http 404 file eror

I need to know how can i get rid of http error 404 in internet explorer. The site was working fine and now it comes with this message.

This message comes when the web page is not available on the server.

Either the page has been renamed or deleted from server.

Try one thing. If u know the filename of the file that u know exists on the server then directly call it. URL/filename.html or anything. If it shows up then fine otherwise the file is not in the proper directory on the web server.
