Hi guys,

I am looking to import a car from US.
A friend of mine told me that there's a 100% import duty on cars. Is that true ?
Does it apply to even used cars ?
can somebody tell me about the cost of import duties, etc etc ?

There is a 114% tax and I guess even on used cars as well. Importing including shipping will end up costing around 3+ times the cost you purchase in USA, and around 1.5+ times of Indian pricing.

Also the customs duty would be always calculated on NEW car cost even if you are importing an used car.. just my 2 cents

AFAIK you aren't allowed to bring in LHD cars into India anymore unless it is done by transfer of residence or another scheme which lets you import and keep the car for only one year

Seriously I want to know what car u planning to import?

Is it like and old 60s or 70s american muscle car???? That is the only thing acc to me worth importing into the country otherwise all is useless (cause u get most of them here)...
