hi everyone,
i am new to this site.
plz help me with the configuration, i want to buy a new pc in 1-2 weeks.

my budget is 25-30K.
i want a pentium pc, good graphic card with the budget(heared a lot about 6600) , 80 gb or 160 gb hdd.
i am not buying the monitor now, i have a lg15 inch, would buy a new one latter.
plz help me with the configure, give the component name, manufacture name and the price and also keep the budget below 30k, dont include monitor in it, for saving on budget. might also not take the keyboard/mouse also.

Its better to go for an AMD CPU.

AMD Athlon 64 3000+ (Socket 939) Rs. 6,600/-
ASRock 939 Dual-SATA2 (Socket 939) Rs. 3,500 /-
XFX GeForce 6600 GT 128 MB DDR3 PCI-E Rs. 9,000/-
Seagate 160GB SATA Rs. 3,400/-
512MB Hynix Rs. 1850/-
Benq/Sony DVD writer Rs.2,650/-

comes to arnd Rs.27,400/-

I left some components like k/b,mouse,FDD cabby etc.

^^Why are people so addicted to microwave ovens :S. Amar current P4 chips are horrible.... thats why everyone suggests AMD cos they are way better bang for the buck. They are slow, hot and eat lots of power.

Dude go for AMD. And dont worry about Resale. If incase u wanna sell it sell to someone who knows AMD. I have been buying AMD since 1999, Duron, when it used to come with All India Warrant card straight from AMD Inc. It has 3DNow and also latest proccy's support SSE3.

Go for AMD. Lower heating and total VFM. Also you get Dual Channel plus Amazing performance. P4 is good but when you have better then go for better option. Also Asrock has SATA2 so 300mb/s is very good.

And dont go by my sig. i am slowly building a new AMD rig. :)

Specs and prices of a buddy's recently acquired rig!!
Prices in Mumbai!!
But be prepared to take off your clothes to bargain!!
Thats a joke, some people who know this will understand , not for you !!

AMD Athlon 64 3000+ - 5.7k, maybe lower if u r lucky, say 5.5k
Asus A8N-VM motherboard - 4k
Transcend with samsung UCCC RAM - 4k
LG 4167b DVD Writer - 2.4k
Seagate 80 GB SATA HDD -2.4k
LG non flat 17" monitor - 5k, slightly lower actually
Microsoft/Logitech Optical Mouse+Keyboard - 775/-
VIP ATX cabinet with 400W PSU - 2.2k

Total= 26.5 approx!!

so you can put another 1-1.5k for 17" flat monitor!!
And 1-1.2k for 160GB SATA HDD!

And since u not getting monitor now, u can easily fit in an PCIe 6600(nonGT) (or squeeze in a PCIe 6600GT 128/256)!!

and i am ashamed to mention this but me got a BIG 6600GT 128MB going real cheap!!:p

If you are putting only one video card, save money and get an asus A8N-E. Spend the extra money on a 7600GT instead of a 6600GT. If you wanna go the intel way, get a pentium D 805 instead of a P4 640.

hmmm first config is nice...btw those 2.dont go for intel.my suggestion is ..go for amd.:)

one more thing...is spend alteast 2 k(i think) to get 160 gb.
