HDFC x PAYTM Credit Card not recognized as HDFC card in Amazon

Does anyone have HDFC x PAYTM Credit Card? It does not recognise it as an HDFC card in Amazon and cannot avail HDFC credit card discounts but orders can be made. Flipkart detects it just fine and card offer discounts can be availed on flipkart.

Probably it's because it's a co-branded card. Most discount offers are valid only on bank's core credit cards, unless otherwise noted. Flipkart probably made an exception, or more likely, some underpaid intern didn't update the card BINs on the offer page.

It is the case for most co-branded cards. AmazonPay card doesn't work for ICICI offers on other sites. SBI PayTM card doesn't work for SBI offers on other e-commerce websites. Tata Neu HDFC card used to work on most sites but it is also being ignored by other ecommerce websites. Flipkart Axis has not worked on Amazon since ever. It is the reason I usually have a second card from the banks itself for most offers.

So I got an email from HDFC today saying co-branded cards does not have instant discount offers in EMI.
Funnily enough, I can claim the offers on Flipkart but not on Amazon.
Amazon is saying its HDFC's problem, HDFC is saying its Amazon's problem :tearsofjoy:

It is actually both of their problems. HDFC most likely didn't incl its paytm co-branded cards to be incl in their agreement with amazon for hdfc card offers & amazon didn't ask for it either as very few ppl actually use this card on amazon.

It is not because of co-branded but because of competing co-brands. Amazon/fk/tata/paytm all are competing against each other in ecomm segment. Why would a platform want to promote their competitor's brand on their platform? On the other hand, take icici makemytrip card which works on all ecomm sites for all icici card offers because makemytrip isn't competing in ecomm segment.

The merchant decides on the BIN-based promotions to apply in conjunction with the bank. Either can choose to exclude certain cards from offers.

Generally, these co-branded cards occupy a niche to promote the brand and hence most likely to be ignored elsewhere from offers. Generally, cashback cards are the most excluded as it adds to the bank's cost to provide the cashback in addition to the discount.

India is a unique mkt & till now the only co-branded cards that have been excluded are always those from the competing brands in ecomm segment. This situation is unlikely to change in near future.

Same thing, only the sbi cashback card has been excluded & that too because its 5% flat cashback rate is unique among all Indian credit cards.

I think as long as co-branded card is not from a brand in ecomm segment there is almost no chance it will get excluded from sites for that bank's card offers. Makemytrip card from icici is a very good example of this, so many years & not once this card has been excluded from any icici card offer on any ecomm website.
