Hello guys,

Please suggest me a graphics card for a budget of 5k to replace my nvidia 9400gt.
My rig:
Intel core2quad Q6600
OCZ gold 2X2gb DDR2 ram
Corsair VX450
Intel DG35 EC.
I'll be playing games at 1440X900@ medium or low settings i.e I want to get the maximum FPS.
BTW can I play BF3 with this new card?
Thanks.

@HURRY you will have to get the AMD HD6770 ~6500/- at-least if you want to enjoy BattleField 3 even on the low-medium settings (Frostbite Engine 2.0).

If you cannot then the only option is too look for --
  • AMD HD5670 512MB GDDR5 ~5500/-
  • AMD HD4870 [second hand under warranty]
  • AMD HD5770 [second hand under warranty]
Hope this helps, Cheerio!

For AMD HD5770 / 6770 as @tufel has pointed out both cards are the same, the HD6770 just a re-badged HD5770. Go for Sapphire OR MSi more preference to the former as I have learnt that they have a good after sales network and that MSi provides poor credit compensation if a really old card is brought to them.

nVidia cards in this price range are rather lackluster and not worth it (in my opinion); here is a benchmark run between the AMD HD5770 / 6770 and nVidia GTX550Ti (direct competition) -- AnandTech - Bench - GPU12.

To top it off the AMD card is more efficient and cheaper too. Cheerio!

Do you plan to play multi-player OR single-player?

P.S. -- to tag members use the following syntax @<iD>, e.g. @HURRY.

OP should be able to play BF3 @high settings with 6770 on 1440x900 :)

True, did not look at his screen resolution, so straight up thought 1080p; my mistake.

Hey guys,

I cant find any HD 6770 for less than rs.7500.:(
But there are HD 6750 and HD 6670 (2gb DDR3 and 1gb DDR5) for rs.6000.
Should I buy them instead?

Are you looking it up on flipkart.com?

Look at eBay.in and other tech retailers (sites) in India. Here are a few I can recommend --
No anything below the HD6770 are simply too weak in the long run.

P.S. -- where do you stay (city / town)?
