Since you're playing at sub-HD resolutions, a 560 Ti is ideal. You can max out most games and get 60fps. I recommend getting a MSI 560 Ti Twin Frozr II edition. 12800/- Got the price quote from aashirwaad computers couple days ago.

Get an 8 gig RAM. The difference between 1333mhz and 16000mhz is negligible, so don't feel compelled to get 1600mhz modules.

I would recommend you to splurge a bit more on the PSU side. Everyone makes the classic mistake of getting the cheapest one possible. It's the heart of your system! I can't stress this enough. I recommend you get Corsair 650tx. Around 5000/-.

Case wise, my recommendation would be a HAF 912, or if you don't care about looks or optimal cooling, just go for the nzxt gamma. 2000/-.

1. Go Sandy Bridge quad

2. Get 4GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM

3. Since main purpose is gaming, I would say a HD6870 for 11.4k cuts it very sweet.

@OP - which monitor/LCD TV are going to use this rig with? I think you should get a GPU which can max out most games @ 1080p. With 6850 you can easily max out everything at 720p/768p but 1080p may be an issue in some games.

You can check my configuration (approx 45K including shipping - I got everything online 4 months back, except Cabinet). I think you'll be able to sneak in a better GPU @ 50K.

2. Since he's using 64 bit windows, which uses 2gigs in itself, I think
it's better he go for the 8gig.

3. That actually is pretty good suggestion. He'll only be playing at
around 720p and dual 6870's scale better than dual 560Ti's

Why do you wanna build a rig to game at non HD resolution when you can easily build a rig within your budget to game at full HD resolution?

Here is what i would recommend

Processor Intel Core i5 2400 9300

Motherboard Intel DH67BL (B3) 5200

RAM G.Skill Ripjaws 1600MHz CL9 2x2GB 1650

GPU MSI GTX560Ti Twin Frozr II 13750

HDD Seagate 7200.12 1TB 2750

Cabinet NZXT Gamma 2100

Monitor BenQ G2220HD 7400

PSU Corsair VX550 4600

Keyboard Logitech MMKB 400

Mouse Logitech MX518 1200

Mousepad Razer Goliathus Speed Edition Omega 500

Speakers Altec Lansing VS2621 1500

DVD Writer Samsung 950

Total 51300

@ALL

Thanx for suggestions guys...

actually i was planning to use my Sony Bravia 22" TV with this Rig,.. So yes i would be gaming at 1080p..:D..

I like the idea of buying a HD 6870 ... Is any one using it with a HD TV...

Coz i hear their are some issues with using an HD TV as monitor ( It does not give good resolutions. )

now that i am even more confused on the processor... what would u guys suggest an i7 or a 2nd Gen i5.. coz a 2nd gen i7 would go over my budget.

For gaming i5 2400/2500 is enough... i7 2600/2600k is only good for those people who require that extra threads (Hyper Threading)... Plus in gaming i7 2600 doesn't perform better than 2500/2500k it only performs better in multi threaded apps and games which can use whole 8 threads... Actually there are hardly much games which can utilize 8 threads... So imo go for i5 2500 if you are building rig purely for gaming... i5 2500 would be good for other usage too...

If you're really going to go for a new processor, I would strongly advise a 2500k.

You can easily OC it to 4.5ghz with a third party heatsink. But the con here is that

you'll also need a P67 or a Z68 motherboard. Usually in the price range of >9k.

If you don't plan on overclocking, you'll save heavily on the mobo side. A decent

H67 mobo should be around 5k. You'll probably get a quad core for around 9.2k.

My estimates:

OC'able

10200 + 9000 = 19200/-

Non-OC'able

9200 + 5200 = 14400/-
