I have an year old Galaxy S2 and I would like to root it with a custom Jelly Bean ROM. I am new to rooting. Can someone guide me to the correct build and process of rooting?

I had followed the instructions here while rooting my S2: How to Root Galaxy S2! | Galaxy S2 Root

Else you can also go to the Galaxy S2 forums at XDA to get a detailed idea regarding everything.

Do a lot of reading before doing anything with the phone.

After rooting you can flash any jelly bean ROM like I'm using Jellybam for now.

Running CM9 + Supernexus 5 : Dual boot

1) Root your GS2
2) Install Siyah v5 kernel (download the ZIP and install via cwm) Link
3) This will enable your phone into dual boot.
4) Then you can install many roms as secondary and test. Link
5) Finally install the one you like, as the main rom.

However, :1ign19: Before you start, read, read and read what you plan to do.
SGS2 is not like motorola defy which cannot be bricked. SGS2 can be 'really' bricked means everything gone and turning your phone into a mere paperweight.

Ok... time to let go CM9. Its Supernexus 5 (primary) + Jellybam (dual) now. :bigok:

Supernexus 5 : Simple hard core JB experience without any bloatware.
JellyBam : Wild, fast, rich and customizable ...
