dont buy a 450 watt psu.. go for atleast 600... if u ever plan to upgrade.. u wont have to spend on psu...

well if u are spending on GPU too.. then i wont suggest u intel mobo.. u can get a good gigabyte one.. like ud5 or so..or just get a MSI platinum pro mobo... costs cheaper than the intel..and also has Overclocking capabilities... + its a full size board :)

Stop spreading your FUD and BS everywhere in the forum! With what sort of proofs are you supporting your so called claims of WD being a waste of money?

Just in case you and the OP did not know, Seagate has announced a newer RMA technique for their hard drive line-up thru Accel Frontline. Whereas WD has a door-to-door pickup RMA policy. And you'd still say Seagate is better?

@Hot zubs - They used to. The 7200.11 were a cursed lot. The newer .12 series have no issues AFAIK.

@alcy - The X58S0 board gives you a limited OC options - I hope you do know that! There're other variants from Gigabyte and MSI just in case budget was the concern you chose the Intel over others.

Thanks everyone! And sorry that I didn't mention a reference of my previous thread http://www.techenclave.com/pc-peripherals/50k-rig-reccos-core-i7-system-158086.html. This present thread is for making my final decision and as I am witnessing, it has been fruitful to inquire again with you folks. Thanks again.

I have few more things to say:

Dude ! Where are you getting these prices from ? These are cheaper compared to what I inquired today from SMC int'l Nehru Place, Delhi. Especially the Corsair RAM price ! I got a quote of 9.5k for that. It would be good to know your source. ;)

This pretty much what I had in mind, except that I will go for a cheaper Nvidia card (most probably the 9500 GT). Also there are a lot of WD supporters here (with valid points), so I will consider that too.

I would like to know about the MSI board that you mention. Basically now I have three options...MSI X58 Pro, Gigabyte X58 AUD3R, MSI Pro-E. Everybody's advising against Intel (I don't know why, it has decent OC potential), so that has taken a backseat.

Dont go for seagate, buy western digital hdd... And y 500*2... Buy a 1tb hard disc...
The reason for having 500*2 is that on one disk I need to store all my development/programming/research related data & work on it with probably a lot of tinkering/re-formatting/experiment with a certain risk and on the other one, I would have usual stuff. I know I could do away with partitioning appropriately, but I'd still be worried all the time (since I am an amateur developer at best)

Ironically Intel is expensive (or at par, almost) than these ! You know what, motherboard is really a tricky part here ... I haven't a single review anywhere supporting the Intel mobo completely. However, the others have so many reviews that its not easy to pick one ! I hope I am able to make the right choice in the end !:)

Regarding motherboards:

Please understand, no one is advising against Intel motherboards. It is just that, the vanilla Intel boards (made by Intel) -- the BIOS has limited options. It WILL NOT give you OC options, FSB change, base clock change, voltage tweaks, FSB : DRAM ratios. Intel boards are good, and the work really well. Its the nature of the work. To put it in easier perspective, imagine an Intel board like a simple knife. And imagine the Asus/Gigabyte/MSI (listed in alphabetical order) motherboards as swiss army knifes. Both will 'cut' what they are supposed to cut, but the latter will do a lot more. Hope this makes sense.

@asingh: I know what you're saying. And I know I wanted a simple knife only. Also, I know its slightly difficult to tweak settings on an Intel board, but I don't really will be tweaking much, I am not an OC enthusiast. Hence my decision to go for a simple solution. ;)

Okay. Sorry. Was not doubting you. Surprised that an Intel board (extreme) series has OC BIOS opened up. Nice. BIOS seems difficult to work with, but if Intel releases a nice revision, it should be good to go. Thanks for the link.
