File Sharing & LAN CO-OP Gaming Between Two PCs

Hi,

I want to share files and play Off Line LAN CO-OP games between two PCs.
But,PC1 has Alliance Internet ON and it got a Static IP.
PC2 don't need any internet sharing.
Only need to access some files/folders and play CO-OP games on LAN.
Is it possible ?
Sadly I only have a Netgear Switch but no Router.

Thanks!

What's the static IP on the PC? One possible solution is to connect both PCs to the switch, assign the static IP as usual to PC1 and then assign another static IP to PC2 in the same range as that of PC1 but WITHOUT a default gateway. This way PC2 won't try to get out of the network. The only flaw with this plan is if it's a private network and there's another PC on Alliance's network with the same IP that you've assigned PC2, you'd end up with an IP address conflict.

Another option would be to get a second NIC for PC1 and put the second NIC and PC2 in a different network from that of NIC1 on PC1. Yet another option would be to get a router!

Thanks for ur reply!

IP like this:
10.10.xxx.xxx
255.255.255.x
10.10.xxx.xxx

10.10.xxx.xxx
- - - - - - - - -

Alliance is a LAN based network.
If I chose almost same IP as PC1 with out the gateway it will work ?
I mean I just need to put only IP address and subnet mask and nothing(no gateway or DNS).
Will other ppl can see my shared file on Alliance network ?

BTW,what's the cheapest Router with MAC Clone support ?
Router should be Robust for 24x7.
