I will be getting a Creative Inspire 5.1 T6100 for my Pc (Gigabyte G31+E5200). Does it need a sound card or will the sound card improve the performance. If Yes suggest me a sound card

Yea a sound card will surely improve performance for your T6100 but dont expect wonders as they are pretty low end speakers.

A creative audigy value ~ 1.5k is highly recommended.

Go for the creative audigy value 2 which feartures HW assisted sound. Gr8 for gaming, music and movies. I've read several good reviews about it.

Those speakers cost around 3.8k
:) So? They are FIVE Speakers + ONE subwoofer in 3.8k. Thats barely Rs. 600 per speaker.
Though this doesnt mean they are'nt good. When looking at the fact that they are Five of them, (in terms of room-fill and volume) they are decent value for money.

OT:
Mid/Value-end 5.1 speakers:
Logitech X-540 ~ Rs. 5200

One shouldnt buy 5.1 speakers if budget is below 5k, just go for quality-oriented 2.1 instead. Eg: Altec Lansing VS4121 (2.9k), Edifier C3 (4k+).

On topic:
Sound card does substantial improvement to good speakers.

This applies only to Audiphiles . For a starter Creative Inspire 5.1 T6100 is a good choice .

The problem is not with the speakers.Rather the source of files.
Most HD movies are encoded as 5.1 hence you can hear the surround. But Mp3 files are encoded in stereo that is 2 channel.
You need to use player like windvd, powerdvd or any player where you can select the output as 5.1 audio. What this players will do is upmix 2 channel mp3 to 5.1 channel.
