Intended config:
Intel core2duo T5250-1.5GHZ,2mb cache,667 mhz
1GB DDR2 RAM
14.1" wxga
Intel integrated X3100 graphics card
160 GB sata
90 watts adapter
6 cell 56 Whr battery

My queries:
My usage of the laptop would be purely business. So, internet, word, powerpoint, occasional DVD movies.NO GAMING!
The following are the recommended options from Dell. What would U recommend as a must-buy?

1. Intel C2D T7250 -2 GHZ,2MB cache, 800mhz -Rs.6557
2. 14.1" wxga with Truelife -free
3. 2GB DDR2 RAM -Rs.2804
4. Geforce 8400M GS(128MB DDR3) -Rs.3746
5. 9-cell 85WHr battery -Rs.936

With my previous compaq experience that gave me 20 minutes battery time after a year, Im highly contemplating on the 9-cell battery which according to the dell website is just 50 gms heavier than the 6-cell battery which weighs 350 gms.
Im not exactly sure if its right since 50% extra cells should equal atleast 40% extra weight.

hey buddy since u mention ur only looking for office work an movies.. i dont think its worthwile to invest in processor upgrades.. ud hardly be utilizing the 5250 completely..

ram u might upgrade .. although its cheaper to upgrade fromo outside ,,

i dont really approve of graphics cards on business notebooks since if ur not gaming y spend extra when inbuilt intel would suffice. further the gfx card reduces battery life.

trulife is a wonderful screen so opt for tat..

if ur away from power sources long then opt for 9cell batts..

Since you are not going to use it for heavy processor intensive tasks getting a better processor is not of that great use..and so it the graphics card, you can invest in 2gb ram instead and get better longevity from your laptop.

Also I dont think you require a 90 watts adapter adapter a lower one will do unless you opt for the gfx card.

The weight of 9 cell is roughly about 200gms more. Its a better buy if you wont have access to power source.

Try getting the T5270 proccy if possible...

The truelife screen is good but too reflective, its almost like a mirror, you can clearly see ur face when the laptop is off.

hey there.

i agree with most of the above.

processor upgrade is pointless

bump up the ram to 2gb

screen rather than just upgrade to the free trulife option...increase the resolution to wsxga. you will get more viewing space.

9 cell....if you always working on the road then yes

and bump up the warranty to 3 yrs. peace of mind

Or did U get a Rs.1700 discount AND a 2 yr warranty free?

I still don't get it.....when the price starts approaching the upper 50s, why not opt for the XPS series than live with the atrocious screen on the newer inspirons?
