Castlevania: Lords Of Shadow 2 - Discussion Thread

So we were left with a WTF ending of Castlevania Lords of Shadow and anticipated a sequel to explain how Gabriel became, what he became. But instead, we got 2 DLCs to connect those dots. Now this isn't fully confirmed, as it's one of those "Tweet..errrr" feeds, but Cox is playing coy with us about the sequel announcement. Anyway, here's what we have so far:

Normally these types of tweets would just be links from a producer pointing fans to interesting articles about the games they've worked on, but this one is a little different.

David Cox, a producer for Konami working with the Lords of Shadow series, tweets links to interesting articles about his game often, but this tweet was directed towards a site with a write-up about wanting to see a sequel to Lords of Shadow. The link was offered with a message from Cox: "Tweeted without comment"

Maybe I am looking for subtext that doesn't exist, but that comment about not commenting seems like a hint to me. Or maybe I just really want to see a sequel to Lords of Shadow, and will grasp at anything that seems remotely like a hint. This isn't the first time he has dropped subtle clues about more Castlevania.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 to launch on Wii U, PS3, Vita and Xbox 360

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 will launch on Wii U, PlayStation 3, Vita and Xbox 360, according to a new report. Paul Gale, he who first reported on PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, also offered more information on the leaked Nintendo 3DS game Castlevania: Mirror of Fate.

Mirror of Fate is a 2D Castlevania game that has been in development for a year-and-a-half, and features two playable characters and co-op play. It uses the 3DS' forward-facing camera as a mirror and the outward facing camera for puzzle solving.

Apparently a Wii U version, which interacted with the 3DS version, was in the works before Konami ditched it in favour of a Wii U version of Lords of Shadow 2.

The Wii U version of Mirror of Fate would have been the same game as the 3DS version, with the tablet controller's touch screen acting as the bottom 3DS screen and your telly acting as the 3DS' top screen. You were able to use the Wii U's forward facing camera as a mirror to "capture your reflection and reveal your fate".

Now, though, Wii U owners will have to settle for a "safer" port of Lords of Shadow 2, which could retain some of the planned connectivity with Mirror of Fate. Both games are being made by Spanish developer MercurySteam and will be unveiled at E3 next month.

Konami Teases an announcement via a new Webiste

The Dragon Returns

Over on their official Facebook page, Konami links out to a teaser site that sure seems to hint at something Dracula-related. The site bears the words "The Dragon Returns," which refers to the linguistic roots of the evil count's name. Dracul—as in Vlad Dracul—means dragon in Romanian.

The site could be hinting at a sequel to 2010's Lords of Shadow or it could be priming the pump for the rumoured Castlevania 3ds title. "CLOS Teaser Page" appears on the page's source code so it looks like the former may be more likely. Either way, it looks like the publisher's going to have more vampire-slaying action in store for gamers soon.

PC gamers, I come bearing good news. For those who kept blabbering PC gaming is dead, here is an "In your face" news. This title is coming to PC. Yeah, that's right, PC!

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 PC version announced

Because you wanted it, Konami has consented to make a PC version of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2.

"That's right! Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 is coming to PC!" bellowed Lords of Shadow producer Dave Cox on Twitter.

A just-released press release tells us the PC version is being simultaneously developed alongside the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions, and all three will be released next year.

"Castlevania: Lords of Shadow successfully rebooted the franchise but now we want to go further and exceed people's expectations on what to expect from the sequel," commented Dave Cox in the press release.

"This new game tells a much broader tale and one that spans centuries. It is a game that pushes whatever format it is on to the absolute limit, and we are delighted that Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2's rich blend of first-class fighting, deep exploration and rich storytelling are set to delight and enthral PC users, too.

"There's a darkness coming, and with our new game engine, we hope to deliver something truly special across multiple formats that will set new standards for action adventure games."

Not much is known about Lords of Shadow 2, yet. The game was announced earlier this summer with a fantastic cinematic trailer, and that's about it. Sounds like, from the story synopsis, you'll play as Dracula as and regain your old powers on your quest to rid yourself of your immortal shackles. But plenty will try and stop you.

Man this would be epic. I'd have to buy a PS3 just for this game but I think now I can just be content with my 660Ti. Konami is God...err Dracula this time.
