Linux !! Can UBUNTU be installed on EXTENDED Partition??

Hey guys,

Can i install UBUNTU on Extended partition..?? Due to some reasons i have used all three Primary partition in windows..i have another 8 GB left..and i wanted to use it for UNBUNTU....so what was looking for was 7.5GB for UBUNTU and .5 for swap...

But i am a fix,unable to create two partitions..as soon as i create either of them the remaining space is considered as UNUSED space..and not UNALLOCATED..that means i am unable to create two partitions..

What are my options now?

AFAIK i dont think its possible using normal methods.

May be there is a work around for that not sure though, i recommend not to install it on extended partition.
